What I found kind of wild is that he can't play any competitive sport for the full four years (i.e. no weekend club golf competitions, midweek night-time basketball leagues etc).

I mean, I get it to an extent. But that feels particularly brutal considering that it was a recreational drug. As he jokes about at one point, cocaine being in your system playing elite-level sport would be very unlikely to be advantageous (to say the least lol).

I'd be happy with a 6 month ban for the drugs then a 3 and a half year ban for stupidity. What an idiot. Seriously.

To be banned for 4 years for blowing some snow is absolutely ridiculous. The guys career is literally finished for something that is honestly something that’s done by such a huge part of the population on a daily basis.

Doing coke on the eve of finals in a professional sport with a drug code, the day before a game isn't something a huge part of the population does lol. Play silly games win silly prizes. He knew the risks.

Mate, Noah Balta will be back playing in a few weeks after an incident where he could have killed someone. Smith has done a few lines and his career is literally done.

I agree with you. Balta should be locked up for sure, and still a chance he might be. Disappointing the AFL hasn't stepped in and made it clear this behaviour is not on by suspended him. But it's in the courts i guess, so maybe they are waiting to see how it plays out. As for Smith, yeah the drug bans are ridiculous, but these guys know the risks and to do it when he did is just plain dumb anyway. But i personally don't know anyone who does coke. Had a mate who used to dabble in it years ago, but I'm not sure it's as prevalent as some suggest. Either way was a dumb ass thing to do when he'd taken years to break into the team and get his body right.

Don't really have any sympathy for him tbh, he knew the rules and was stupid enough to break them. Bloke was sniffing lines with a heavily pregnant wife and finals very close, he is just a ****ing idiot.
