Adrian Dodoro tells the Herald Sun: "As far as we're concerned we are only dealing with the Hawks"

This sounded a little immature taken in isolation. Then again i don't know the context and if he had just finished talking about how Saints hadn't tabled an offer then fair enough.

Honestly it would be great if Carlisle was happy to go to Hawthorn it would make the whole thing so much easier. Pretty much no progress has been made with Saints since trade period began and if anything they seem eager to delay any deals as long as possible to improve their bargaining position. They have totally placed their faith in Carlisle to put all his eggs in the Saints basket and now its looking like that might not be the case.

It sounds liked mixed reports on what Jake has said. Some parts sound like he's said no he only wants Saints whereas others sound like he's shown a willingness to go to Hawks as a second preference. Anyone clarify this?

If Jake says no to Hawks do we lose any leverage we had? Or do we threaten to let him go to psd if he doesn't accept Hawks? (Or saints out up 5)

So far there has only been one verified comment out of the Carlisle camp and that was in the saints press release which was signed off by McConville.

I can't help but feel that the Hawthorn angles, like the debunked Richmond angle before it arr just scare tactics to get pick five on the table. All's fair in love and war afterall.

I don't really get thr animosity. At the end of the day St Kildas interest might have bumped up his price for you after all is said and done.

The context is, and what he's always said, is this:

There is no offer from the Saints. Nothing.

JC nominated them, Dodo rang them and said for pick 5 the deal is done.

They declined and did not - and have not since - made a counter offer.

The Hawks have made an offer, and we've accepted it. It'll go ahead should JC agree with Hawthorn.

That's why we're only dealing with Hawthorn. There's literally no offer or negotiations with the Saints.

if JC is leaving due to this club being "f**kd*, then surely he will be open to the hawthorn move, which is clearly a brillaint club with a great culture. the money won't be quiet as good, but he is still making bank.

Culture is relative. It's always sky high when you're winning and shot when you're losing.

You forgot to add that his manager wont get a bigger slice of the pie too and he might actually have to work as Clarko doesn't take nonsense.

Only real reason he is moving to Saints is for the money andrelationship with Richardson (brief to say the least). His manager probably knows this is the better option as he get a bigger pay cheque too

Would 1st rd pick next year be an option in your opinion

Absolutely not.

Would you be happy to sell your car this week, and agree not to be paid a cent until next year, all the while the buyer is enjoying the spoils of their purchase? Bird in the hand etc.

Carlton agreed to the future pick because they couldn't believe anyone would fork out a first rounder for Henderspud, no matter what year the draft was

this. can we stop all the trash talk? this is all completely contingent on jake's decision.

I can just see the prick not accepting the hawks deal.

Maybe, but it could also get the saints worried he might change his mind. It will really make them decide if they want pick 5 or Carlisle. If it drags out another few days Carlisle might start wondering if the saints actually want him. It's not bad in anyway shape or form from our side.

This is pretty dumb. Does that mean you would only pick someone who would immediately make an impact? Or that you'd trade the pick for some players we can 'enjoy' straight away?

Future first round pick would only work in the context of another decent pick being added tho

What would you rather pick 5 or 15 & 18?

I'd prefer 15 and 18 considering the state of our list - Keeping one less marginal player on the list will be a win - And I'd expect to hit the draft hard in 2016.

Hey guys, apologies for dropping by, I don't normally visit other team boards, hopefully you will forgive me.

I know GF day was boring for you guys and most neutrals. I feel like whatever happens regarding JC, we have at least made up for it by making today exciting right?

Also love the thread title!
