My only ‘ITK’ person is heavily involved at the Dogs. Reckons it is pretty much a done deal.

Although when you get to a professional level it doesn’t mean as much, but him and his family are mad dogs fans as well.

Nuffin is ever set in stone, but would come as a great shock to many if he wasn’t at the dogs next year.

Personally, I hate the bulldogs, their supporters and everything they stand for. But I don’t think my opinion will sway Zak in any way.

I was told by a couple people from different circles that it was a guarantee for him to come home at the end of the contract with one saying Dogs the favourite

Not disputing what you've been told but why would he go to the Dogs? If there's a club that doesn't need another tall it's them. I firmly believe if he does come hime he'll end up at North.

I'm a real wait and see with Oliver, I have a feeling Melbourne is going to blow it up at the end of the year with Goodwin leaving and can see the Dees taking offers on a few big names like Trac and Oliver to invest in their youth and try to rebuild a bit with big draft pick returns this year before Tassie comes into the mix.
Will Paul Roos sell himself for another overpaid consultancy as part of Rebuild #2?
He's the Trevor Chappell / Daniel Baldwin of the Whitlocks.
I’m sure there is a Hemsworth or a Minogue in there as well 😎

Referring to Butters.

And the going home factor. I know some were comparing us to Adelaide the past week and why they were ahead and this is/was a massive factor. At least 4-5 of their new recruits are due to the going home factor. Going to a 2 team state vs a 10 team state is a huge factor.
Agree, but also something that has killed them (the reverse of) over the years. They’ve lost plenty of good ones.

You’d assume part of the pre-draft interview process is how these kids answer certain questions regarding this topic.
Dan Curtain was a risk to trade up to & take so high.

This is why we need a needle mover, we desperately need to win games.

We've got bucket loads of young talent now on the list but we need to fast track winning games.

how do we do it without trading out kids.
We absolutely can trade kids, that's the beauty of it. Now that we have a few we can be more selective with the ones we like, and move on the ones that aren't quite up to it if the price is right and we believe we can find a better player.

The likes of Philips, Hardeman, Goater, Bergman, Ford, etc should not be considered off-limits just because they're young.

Sheez, Wardlaw, McK, Powell and FOS are off limits. Duursma has 1 more year of grace. The rest are either not young, have no value or are signed long term.

Jack Silvagni as a FA? I’m sure this will get the usual responses like he’s shit and go and get Ben King or Aaron Cadman, but they ain’t coming! Comes for free, versatility to play at either end of the ground, immediate upgrade on most our key position players and can settle into a third tall role depending on structure.

I like Silvagni but I’d hope we’d have better kp players than him in Whitlock, Dawson and Chom in the next year or two.

Is he though?

I think he is a dead set terrible defender. He wouldn't get a game a head of Corr or Comben and we have the likes of Whitlock and Dawson developing in the wings.

Across his career, he hasn't been consistent as a forward and that's with Curnow and McKay getting all the attention.

Hasn't been allowed to settle into a role under Voss, and perhaps that is a product of his performance in each position. Played ruck across 2023 and forward the year before that. Forward and back this year. I've feel he's had a reasonably good year to date, but perhaps on reflection our developing talls will pass him quickly.

Need to recruit ASAP. As long as his Mum comes to every match to support 😎

He's shit and so is his team.

Before we even go there, Waite and Darlings had been elite players in the past.

Silvagni never has.

There's your distinction.
I feel like he's had a good start to the year and could be a good role player in a competitive side, plus would come without losing any draft picks. I take several posters points regarding his capability and consistency. I think I fell into the trap as i think he would be gettable.

Next player for discussion: Charlie Spargo?

Fair call and I regret stifling the topic.

Maybe Hawthorn, Collingwood or Geelong would be sides that could utilise him well? Sides where roles are defined and adhered to.

love spargo, would be keen on.

They might need to let Maynard walk for the compo.

The AFL wouldn't want their darling to go without. They'll alter the bidding rules to make sure Collingwood get access to Tom McGuane (FS), Oscar Lonie (FS) and Zac McCarthy (NGA) while still getting enough draft picks to satisfy Gold Coast for a Matt Rowell Trade.
