2:Things.
1:Any player of value is signed at our club the rest will 3rd round down in trade.
2:Our List Management couldn’t organise a r:eek:t in a Ho House.
Anyway we all know the story if anything gets done to the above 2 things there will be Scapegoat as Mates of Stroke will not get rid off Mates of Stroke that’s just not in the Trade and Management but that’s in every area of our once great club which is now the biggest embarrassment in Australian sport.

I’d prefer Toby McMullin tbh. I think he’s better athletically, wasn’t from their academy so probably easier to get.
Sounds good. Let's do it.
Oh yeah McMullin is pretty good, nice left foot kick I think if it's who I'm thinking of.
Gothard another one I'm sure we'd be tracking, but so is every other club probably lol.

We need more mature (25-30yo) capable senior depth. Another 1-2 this year will hopefully give room for young <21's time to develop (eg. W Dawson etc) rather than being expected to come good in game 5.

WTF is going on with our top end draft picks???

Wardlaw can't get on the park.
Duursma has been treading water in the VFL.
Sheezel is causing minimal damage despite accumulating decent disposal numbers.
McKercher looks like being dropped.
Will Phil is at the x-roads, and has been there for 18 months.

It's not comforting at all to be honest.

And then mix that in with a bunch of senior recruits from other clubs who are borderline VFL/AFL players......

It's not looking good.

the talent is there.
The good senior players able to help carry the young kids through hardship isnt.
Too much responsibility on the backs of some of these 19-21yr olds.
They're not letting the boys play football.

Personally I think what is going on is that every single one of these players is being expected to deliver as a core team member holding down a senior level role without the support of a strong senior team around them. Think about when Wells came into the team as Pick 2 and who he had around him to provide support and the role he was expected to play. Now compare that to Sheezel or McKercher. Insane expectations.

Look at Daicos walking into Collingwood, the Ashcroft boys, they can almost play for fun. Meanwhile some of the stuff I see about a kid that has just bypassed 20 games makes me gasp.

Short memories on these Carlton/Melbourne/Brisbane rebuilds and Gold Coast/GWS builds.

Yep. It's not on the 1st-3rd year kids to carry us. That middle-tier age group needs to carry more of the load.

When we started the rebuild - we should have been asking to get access to the best state league players.
Probably could do it even now via the draft
We have the opportunity to draft the best state league players every year, for whatever reason it’s a talent pool that we don’t seem to rate.

I think and interesting one of the free agent list is George Hewit. He's different to our current midfielders, he can do a defensive job and he runs both ways.
We are screaming out for Sam Gibson type who can come in, know where to run, run defensively, shut down a player and provide neat skills.

We also need a centrepiece bull in the midfield. Someone who can support Parker and to protect LDU and give time for Sheeze, McKercher and O’Sullivan time to mature and make it so that if George is missing, the whole foundations of the midfield don’t collapse. This player doesn’t have to be a world beater but someone who can effectively provide pressure on the inside while dishing out neatly to our explosive types.

After that, I hope we set and forget our midfield for a while and focus on developing 2-3 good to great accountable, rebounding defenders, another couple of key forwards and 2-3 effective crumbers.

I would hope that the recruiting team could manage that over the next 3-4 years.
