What makes it even better is that apparently if they match, and we don't trade, they'll magically keep him on the original contract they offered, not the 1.7mil a year contract they matched.
Stop it, I can't take this idiocy any more. First it was the Essendon idiots with Dylan Shiel and the Gresham pick, then it Hawthorn and their idiocy over Battle, now these dolts.
God give me strength.

My favourite is still the fact that one poster thinks we are giving away first rounders picks in 2025,26&27 and another thinks we are giving them Rowan Marshall.

Because TDk is better and they will need a good ruckmen.

Not our problem. You can't cough up the cash, you lose.

And only six more months of this to go!
You mean we have to hear about creating cap space to pretend they will retain TDK - but secretly TDK knows they can’t afford him so he wants to get stkilda to cough up all their assets for him, because he loves Carlton and they are all friends… for 6 more months?

I'm looking forward to them calling for established senior players (like McKay) to be thrown under the bus for cap space.

Ohh and other clubs will just absorb the entirety of those deals and give up premium assets for the pleasure aswell I’m guessing 😂

The TDK money is so ducking high why wouldn't you walk him to the PSD? Any club that wants him will have to agree to his nominated contract.
Mate the scenario they are making up doesn’t exist. We won’t be paying a bloke 1.7m and then giving up players or draft picks on top.

The clubs identified a price point that should enable us to land him as a restricted free agent - as long as he wants to come and not take less, like significantly less to stay or Carlton cut their list hard to find the money

He means for this year right?
Yes.

But it’s what it means for next year and beyond.

So hypothetically we can go 105% next year. Which means we could forward pay a large amount of that TDK deal. Say $2m a year.

It also means we owe less on the books for what would represent existing big deals.

King. Marshall. Sinclair. Wilkie.

Alright time to change tact and looking forward to the draft

Jevan Phillipou has had a good start to 2025 in the SANFL U18 Comp as captain of Woodville-West Torrens Eagles

3 Rounds played thus far and he has gone

R1 v Sturt (loss) - 31D / 0.1 / 9M / 5T / 6Cl
R2 v Glenelg (win) - 22D / 0.2 / 7M / 3T / 4Cl
R3 v Centrals (win) - 25D / 1.0 / 5M / 3T / 6Cl

Also Scouting Notes from R1 v Sturt

#25 Jevan Phillipou | Midfielder
Stats:
31 disposals, 9 marks, 6 clearances

Phillipou dominated proceedings alongside Cook, leading from the front as Woodville-West Torrens’ captain. The brother of Mattaes has some notable weapons, mostly in his athletic profile with powerful lateral movement and a springy leap to impact overhead. He utilised both assets to build on his high volume of possessions both at the coalface and around the ground. Phillipou was sometimes guilty of unloading the ball long and could have been more impactful by foot, but waxed well with his teammates and will be a threat in the front half as the year goes on. He shook off a big hit in term three to continue pushing his side forward.

Of course not a given that we are interested but he is a watch given he is the brother of Mattaes

If TDK decides in July that he’ll sign a contract extension with Carlton for $1.2 million p.a. that is also another scenario correct ?.

Means our $1.7 mill offer is null and void and the Blues don’t have to match.

I don’t really truly care to argue this.

But gee spare a thought if you are Ratten and they are now calling his last draft the start of a rebuild and telling him he under performed.

Each to their own on the interpretation on this one.
I think a lot of that depends on what Brett was selling the Board
Had Brett gone to the board and said “look this list isn’t going to get it done…think we need to turn it over…”
Then I suspect things may have been different
The sense (from mikes away) I got was Bassatt and board got sick of being told “we are in the window….almost there Simon…”
When reality hit Simon that sealed Brett’s fate so big part of his demise was due to Brett imo
