Adams form in the latter part of 2024 fell away - in his last 3 games, he had 10, 14 and 17 disposals, didn’t kick a goal playing predominantly forward & and was <65% ToG.

In my view, to suggest he’d have made a difference in the disaster that was the GF is wishful thinking.

He didn’t feature in the Top 10 of the Skilton and whilst he played plenty of games, wasn’t often in the bests.

Having said all that - given our current injury woes, it’d be handy to have him available.
And many of those disposals were diabolical. Literally couldn't hit the side of a barn door by hand or foot.

But I do agree it would be handy to have him now. I thought he was good in the 2 preseason matches, was really aggressive and showed good intent. But his body is letting him down and at 31 going on 32, it's unlikely to improve.

Was thinking about how many peak games a year do you get per player given all the niggles they carry anyway. So whilst some players play most weeks - they’re not at their best all the time.

Whilst injuries are never good, is the silver lining that when we do get players back, we might see peak performances after they hit match fitness as they have had time to get their body right.

If so, we really might make a late charge. We just have to stick fat and win the close ones so we are in the hunt. Teams can win outside of Top 4 with the post H&A bye.

Not all doom and gloom. If anything our depth will be match hardened.

I haven’t been that impressed with any side this year except maybe Hawks. We are not that far off it

We really gotta just take the C off Mills at this point. It's just adding more pressure on him to rush back. Give it to Heeney and be done with it.

I think Hayward gets run into the ground as well.

When Hayward got injured mid game against Brisbane last year. I thought he would be rested for a bit. But he struggled through the match and the rest of the season.
And from memory his courage during that game was pretty special

Worst choice of captain for this club due to ability to get on the field. Should announce a co captain right now.

People seem to forget Mills has been captain since 2022

Looks like we are getting Mills 24 at best, Mills 22 is but a pipe dream.
It really is a bad sign that Mills can't seem to get through rehab without reinjuring himself, whether that be hamstring, calf, achilles or foot. The fact that his shoulder is the least of his concerns is very worrying..........

At least he's not as down on himself as a lot of people on here seem to be. After all his injuries his spirit is still strong and that's always a positive from a leader. I'm sure that the captain skills are still being applied in all his time around his club mates. That's my impression from his demeanour in club training videos. Resilience is priceless and also for other players to see that.

This is true. Although his injuries are not quite as severe as AJ's, I do remember the playing group drawing alot of inspiration from him, especially when he finally made it back onto the track.

Making Mills sole captain when he had a self-inflicted injured and was out for at least half the year has to be one of the poorest decisions by the Swans in a very long time.

It was also so unswanslike. The leadership top down through the club has always been so strong, and this decision just seemed so poorly thought through, and then exacerbated then by Mills rushing himself back instead of being patient - which it looks like he may have done again in the off season.

Such a mystifying decision…

Yet against all your expectatiins he's defied the odds and been chosen by the club to lead. He must truly be a special leader

Didn't stop the white ants on here ripping into him.
Some, myself included, were allowing for him being underdone or playing through something, which just means he shouldn't have been playing in seniors if he couldn't perform.

But if a player is played, and said to be good to go, it's perfectly reasonable to criticise effort, especially when it was selective depending on whether it was an attacking or defensive opportunity.
