Like i said on the other thread their midfield and team in general look like local footballers (to look at) but they're playing at a crazy level.

Their mids look like Owies shaped small guy but get a million possies and cut through like easy.

There's no Dunstall or Buddy but the guys up fwd scrap and get enough shots to a bit of death by thousand cuts.

TB looks like an old man that can't move but his oppo never does much.

Last time I went to Marvel I watched us get pumped by 10 goals against Collingwood, caught Covid on the flight home and therefore missed going to the big win/Harley BSD game against Melbourne the following weekend.

I hope we play Marvel better this time around.

Ever since Colonial Stadium first opened it felt like a perfect ground for us, even looked like a terrible surface like Subi back in the day but from Colonial to Telsrra Dome to Etihad Stadium to Marvel the results have been few and far between.

I can still picture us playing well there and hope we really push the Hawkers.

*probably my favourite home and away away win ever was at Telsra Dome when we beat the Pies in 2003 and kicked 6 in the first 12 mins (not joking) then pies slowly caught up, got about 3 goals up with 10 mins to go then we kicked 5 goals in the last 8 or so mins and won by 3 goals.

Was there and it was mental!

It does look like teams have found a way to constrict Hawthorn's ball movement, but I wonder if it's also talent. It's no coincidence that their rise last year coincided with Day coming back in to the team and they've lost two games now he is out. I'm not saying Day is Patrick Cripps, but he is important to what they do.

They're missing two important pieces Day and Nash. Their midfield will be Newcombe, Mackenzie, Worpel, Ward and Hustwaite, which is hardly a scary proposition on paper.

This is the game we should give Harley more time in the midfield. Harley, Hewett, TK, Graham and Gross or Hutch.

they're not really threatening wit their tall forwards with Chol, Gunston and Sicily.

We should keep our tall forward line and try and force them to keep Sicily back.

Ironically it might be our most winnable game yet.

Had a 28-1-35 record at Docklands up to end of 2019 which is reasonable

From 2021 onwards (no games there in 2020) we’ve won just 2 from 12 attempts - both were upsets, Collingwood in R4, 2022 and the Bulldogs in R23, 2023 by 13 and 7 points respectively

In 2024 we lost all 4 games there by an average of 10 goals - Bulldogs (76), Collingwood (66), Essendon (30) and St Kilda (72)

Have lost our last 3 to Hawthorn by an average of 11 goals with our last win coming in R8, 2021 by 38 points at the MCG meaning Mitchell is 3-0 coaching against us

Only played them twice at Docklands for a 15 point win in R10, 2018 and a 20 point loss in R13,2013

There’s not much there to hold out much hope for a win
