We beat the Cats it's 'oh but poor them, nothing is amiss here they haven't done anything noteworthy yet".
Cats beat a Demons going Owen 4 and it's "they'll be hard to beat, I know they dropped one you didn't expect...' get kneepads and pucker up already FFS.

Looking at Petracca post siren and thinking about what he's been through, I wonder if their psychs have tested him for PTSD? It seemed for all the world like a cry for help. Anyone who has been through despair will recognise it in its sincere form - it's not put on for the cameras. He knows he's not giving it everything anymore. Whether he can get back to that or whether he even wants to; not even he would know. But the Demons are the worst culture to be in if you need to get yourself up to truly competing again. A softer bunch of lily livered pretenders doesn't exist in the AFL, it's always been that way with that club. He can't recover there.

(If that had happened to me, no amount of pride or glory would make me return to the field, which is probably one of the reasons why I'm an irrelevant nobody posting on an internet forum and these guys are suiting up every weekend in front of millions.)

I reckon it won't be long before he realises he's pulling his punches and living in protection mode and he needs to step away from the AFL. I don't see what he has to gain from continuing.

Probably more to it than that even. Culturally the club seems toxic.

If you're Horse, are you choosing the Blues or the Dees? 🤔
They’re going to have to get untried senior coaches. Not sure I can see any experienced senior coaches up for a re-build. Blues will rue the day they didn’t take Ross. ( Their Bont / Billings moment? 🤣).

Wily Dimma managed to snaffle the best job available in a pretty underhand manner, and Tassie awaits for an ex-Senior coach wanting the challenge of getting a new team off the ground.

They’re both in for a world of pain.

I think rebuild is a bit premature. They have a list that has 3 or 4 years left to challenge. They are playing okay but can't get wins. It would still be a pretty decent job to get for any coach. They will give who evert it is unlimited resources that the franchises could only dream of. Horse is of the Ross Lyon school of very structured footy. I think he'd do well there.

Its because Zac was better at team defence.

Max was a better 1v1 player but that wasn't how we were defending under Lyon in 2009.

This is what Max himself said.
No comparison in my view Max was a footballer while Zac was just a dead set loser. He handballed to the Geelong fullforward in the goal square FFS.

Zac Dawson won player of the finals series. He was shit canned because he pushed everyone's favourite player Max H out and he play a zoning game before we knew what the **** he was doing.

He looked like an idiot standing 20 meters off his player when we were used to our little battler Max Hudgeton who had more heart than a cardiology ward, wrestling shoulder to shoulder or dropping in front of a 100 kilo thug to save our arses.

He'd look like a gun in today's footy because we now know what zone defence is meant to be. His closing speed and spoiling game were elite and his size made him a really hard to get around.

Having worked through McCartin v Petracca, Longer v Hickey, and Billings v Bont, we’re now on Hudghton v Dawson are we?

****, you’re a bunch of masochistic freaks.

Jesus… Let it go.

I just think both windows are closing very fast.
GWS,
Lions,
Crows and Suns rising,
Hawks,
Hopefully us on an upward trajectory…

Maybe it’s my biases, but I can’t see 3 /4 years of meaningful challenge left for either of them. Yes, I know Lions started poorly last season, but I don’t see it with these two teams.

Never professed to be expert in anything football, just my opinion.

If the side is playing good footy how do we get our pain fix?

I don't think they have a premiership list but it should be nudging top 4 without a heap of ceiling. They get their top tier thinned out and the look quite ordinary.

They tried to refresh a bit and screwed it up when Smith did his knee. They are psyched out right now and can't seem to straight back up. I think they'll start winning a again at some point but hopefully once their season is dead and we've played them.

There's an old saying:

Jet fighters don't have rear view mirrors.

No first round draft pick this year either.
I see them the way we were - not many players they can offload to other teams who may be interested, but who they want to lose.

You can’t say they tried to refresh with Jaffa. He was their draft pick - and they paid a fairly hefty price for one young kid. But even uninjured he wasn’t going to be their saviour. It is unfortunate they have lost McKay and Elijah Holland to personal issues.
