Quiet day for the 2 Swans boys in the game yesterday:

3) Lachie Carmichael: Stats won't reflect it, but Carmichael did some impressive things in the second half. Neutralised plenty of one-on-ones against bigger bodies and his repeat efforts were critical.

22) Noah Chamberlain: A quieter day for the Sydney Swans Academy prospect, but he finished with a late goal when he got some separation on a lead and kicked truly from 40.

I'm not sure what trading Florent would do, not like some club is gonna give up a good key forward or inside mid for him. Or is it just for salary reasons? Which doesn't really make us better.

Have to try, and maybe the Dogs bite at a straight swap for JUH. Not sure Florent is the one though getting rid of guys with 250 odd games experience is not usually the answer. We are in a tricky situation as we don't know what we have till Chad announces one way or another

He just re-signed until 2029; if the club had wanted to trade him or let him go as a free agent, it would have been explored last year.

And NO to JUH

A month ago I was on your side with JUH, I'm more inclined to roll the dice on this now. If it's cheap or a straight swap that both sides can say 'that's fair' I'd almost take the chance. However the dice roll has to include several behavioural clauses.

Is exactly what we need. He just wants out of the bulldogs
We're not here to run a babysitting service and that's precisely what you're getting into if you sign Jamarra.

He's an athlete but not even remotely professional. Desperate clubs like the Saints gamble their culture on signings like this and I just don't think Jamarra has swallowed enough humble pie to take his career seriously for us to then take that risk.

If it goes wrong it would also really upset all the boys who have taken a haircut to resign with us in the last couple of years to have wasted it on him.

Literally every other productive key forward would be my priority over JUH at the moment.

JUH's issues go way beyond just wanting out of the Bulldogs.

Hard no.

That’s why you insist in severe behaviour clauses and triggers in the contract. I’m not saying go out there and here’s a top 5 pick for the bloke but a throwaway second rounder or early third, we’d be insane to not look at it. People called the Giants dumb for trading in Hogan, yes different players but JUH won’t lose his talent

I’d love to know which players have taken a haircut recently and it better not be Chad’s offer!

Yes, JUH will lose his talent, fitness, and a whole lot of other things if he continues down the current path.

Hogan was a very different set of circumstances. A fundamentally decent person, who had to cope with family deaths, cancer and a cursed run of injury all in a short space of time.

JUH has just surrounded himself with a terrible crowd and is heading down a self-destructive path of his own making. If some of the stories are even remotely true, his coach, club captain and certain teammates have every right to never want to see him again.

They're not just different players. They are very different people.

Complete waste of a list spot. List spots are valuable. JUH does not respect list spots.
The other thing about bringing in high maintenance players is that it impacts the club officials, players, supporters, sponsors etc etc. The coach needs to spend more time with him. The welfare officer needs to spend more time with him. The sponsorship people need to deflect questions about him. The conditioners, line coaches, the players all need to spend extra time with him. That takes away valuable time that all those people have to spend time with others.

He would be a drain on resources. High risk and I would not even say high reward. High potential. Yes. But high probability he just sucks the positive energy out of the club with little return. He would be a multi year project with benefits in the future maybe, but at a significant cost to many people in the club for years.

A very very definite No.

We would be insane to contemplate it.

Haircut means not taking up their market value. Gulden led the charge compared to what the market was offering but even Hayward took one considering what Adelaide and Carlton were offering. Campbell's probably resigned on less than what he could probably command if he had waited until season's end. I don't have the exact numbers and figures but it's on record that Gulden and a few of the boys prioritised success over salaries in the last couple of years when it came to putting pen to paper.

Getting out of Melbourne maybe exactly what the guy needs. We don’t have a forward on our list with his talent. I’m not saying go and give our draft capital up but a late pick with a throw at the stumps I’d almost do it. I mean can’t be worse than McLean trying to catch chest marks lol

Yes, it can be worse.

Yeah, like Bali during the pre-finals bye last year

Been around the wrong people look it may not work but I’d rather at least discuss whether it could work with behaviour clauses obviously. He’s made some errors what young guy hasn’t.

Would we look at Oliver? Contested ball freak at his best.

But then again didn’t kb call him fat or something along the lines

At what price? Gut feeling says no. Seems a bit past it and would cost two arms and a leg

JUH actually knows how to not go for chest marks. He just needs to get out of Mel
and stop taking drugs and alcohol and shagging anything and everything and not training and hanging around arseholes who do all of the things I have written at the start of this sentence and much more.

Maybe he could stay at your place for the first 2 years. You would not have much to worry about except for dubious characters turning up at all hours, police enquiring as to his whereabouts, his 'friends' enquirying as to his whereabouts.

He’s a young kid who may just need a rocket and a change of scenery that’s all. If the Dogs are happy with some token late pick we won’t use, I would be more inclined to punt on the talent. I would however insist on behaviour clauses one being alcohol ban.

While we look at JUH, let’s also get Tarryn Thomas into the club to improve us.

2 negatives equal a positive right?!

(No I’m not serious, we would be insane to go after JUH or Thomas)
