I personally like the sound of Dattoli, Hannaford, Trainor and either of the Whitlocks.
Any of them along with Cochran would be a pleasing result, having only seen their highlights and read their profiles.
I'd think we need a contested type KPD and KPF more than a concussion-risk Trainor and the Whitlocks. Either Whitlock is a long term prospect, probably go with Matt if we picked one and see which end he ends up at.I personally like the sound of Dattoli, Hannaford, Trainor and either of the Whitlocks.

I really doubt a club makes us match Cochran before our 3rd pick ~ 40ish. The talent that's expected to still be around would likely give them pause, unless they really want a tall interceptor/wing and aren't just making us pay up.Just looking more into Mraz, it seems he was playing as a forward up until recently when he went into defence, and had he not been injured was probably going to go forward more this year for the Stingrays
Clubs Set Sights on Injured Prospect Noah Mraz in 2024 Draft
Noah Mraz, a promising junior from the Narre North Foxes, has emerged as a wildcard in the upcoming 2024 AFL draft, captivating the attention of clubs eager to bolster their defensive ranks.Thewww.footboom1.com
Linked closely to the Sydney Swans, who currently hold picks 19, 22, 44, and 59, Mraz's fate may be impacted by the club’s likely need to sacrifice their later picks to accommodate a bid for fellow Academy player Joel Cochran.
Adding to his appeal, Mraz has increased his muscle mass by nine kilograms during his recovery, a testament to his commitment and resilience that has caught the eye of industry insiders.

No key forward we draft will make a big impact next year. 2026 would be a good effort.Really like Hannaford. Goss at our second I’m okay on but I do want a key forward somewhere we can’t go into next year relying on these forwards

How different things could have been in 1996 and beyond if we took on board that Anthony Rocca had no intention of staying in Sydney as he was such a mamma's boy. However, we held our ground and picked him anyway alongside Shannon Grant.Nah. I don't have an issue with players want to move closer to family later on, especially if they have partners or young kids. But if you're an 18 yo looking to get drafted, I'd rather know about that mindset upfront and then give them a wide berth.
It sometimes works out e.g. Wines at Port, but it's not just about how strong the club culture is.

No means no.No idea whether we want Faull or if he’s available at our selection, but if we don’t select him for that reason we are a piss weak football club
Back your culture and select the player you want/need
How do people rate Kevin 'Shifter' Sheehan as a judge of prospective footy players? Obviously better than most but how much attention would you pay where his draft ratings vary with the consensus elsewhere?
I had a quick squiz through his top 40 players (unranked): https://www.afl.com.au/news/1255450/kevin-sheehans-2024-telstra-afl-draft-top-40-prospects. The players he includes in his top 40 which are not consensus top 40 are:
Will Hayes
Sam Davidson
Hugh Boxshall
Logan Smith
None of these names are surprising (generally rated in the 40s) but probably Will Hayes is the biggest bolter- he's your quintessential skinny outside flanker.
Boxshall (athletic, 187 cm mid) and Davidson (mature age 190 cm leading forward who won the Fothergill medal (VFL Rising Star equivalent)) are players I'd be happy to take with our 3rd pick (depending on who else is available). Davidson could be a great alternative to a player like Davis (who is widely rated higher) - lower ceiling, higher floor and, as a mature ager, ready to go. He's also an alternative to Josh Murphy, and a better bet. I prefer Boxshall to Ough.
By comparison, Barratt, who is another forward (194 cm) and generally rated higher, doesn't make Shifter's top 40.
Matt Whitlock/Oliver Hannaford/Sam Davidson/Luke Kennedy strikes me as an excellent draft haul. Then Cochran as a rookie. Get it done. I don't give a flying **** if our VFL team is too tall. We can recalibrate next year when half of them depart.
HynesSo who is the Dusty Martin we should get
Hynes
Yeah, us at 22, before our pick at 26My one hope is someone takes that bloke before us
Yeah, us at 22, before our pick at 26
700 lead , HOF coming upHopefully Richmond take him
Problem I have with Shifter is he thinks every player doesn’t have a weakness he’s okay but I never look into the player types he lists every mid is the next Ablett
I agree he's charitable in his assessments, and he won't provide rankings. However with his top 40 it's revealing who's in and who's out and does give an idea of who he rates, at least at that part of the draft. And he's very experienced, knowledgeable and a seemingly nice guy.
