It's a bit sad to be honest, but all other 17 clubs didn't want Adrian and Elwood too. So basically, apart from romance - we probably had no other reason to grab them.

I find it sad though. The only way I can see them getting a chance is a LTI and I'm definitely not hoping that for anyone on our list. Lenny was probably the one most likely to make it, serious flaws with the other 2.

Hopefully they can train with us this year like Tarkyn did and if they improve they get a spot next year. It was always a year at Sandy anyway for them.
McLennan was is same boat and got picked up the following year

So just to clarify - we haven't taken a Sandy rookie? Proposal didn't even make it to one draft?

(Not saying we should, but we were all looking at Cole as the loophole and that hasn't happened)
If we list Cole and/or Peckett as Sandy players for 2025, then pick one of them up as a Pre Season supp for Crouch, I think we technically honour it.

Are we obliged to select a 2024 Sandy listed player, or is 2025 within the agreement?

It’s irrelevant that we complained about the system then passed on them.. its narrow minded to draw that comparison

Why on earth would we pass on players we rated highly to instead take players we didn’t rate as high just because they’re in our academy ??

We stuck to best available the whole way through and I couldn’t be happier.. trying to get clever and fancy has not served us well in the past

So what? It is only a bunch of second raters who don't deserve to be anywhere near an AFL list.
Could not care less. Ask any of the 6 drafted or Uncle Fester if they give a fig about some irrelevant internal announcement about a rookie spot.

Should we take the NGA's and FS even though they are no good?

Manufactured outrage and faux drama.

The “out clause “ for the Sandy rookie scenario was potentially due to the main candidates all leaving!
O’Leary, Hall-Kahan, Seaton & Lowe all gone..
None are good enough anyway!!

I'm annoyed we didn't grab either NGA boy after making a fuss about the system but at the end of the day if they're good enough they'll make it.

I hope the club stick to their guns and tee off on how easily Brisbane picked up TWO players in the 1st round after winning the flag. They have an academy kid next year that people are saying will be top 10 as well.

Imagine if we could just add 4x first rounders from the Dragons to our list over the last few years?

Drop in Max Holmes (2020), Josh Sinn (2021), Cam McKenzie (2022) and Ryley Sanders (2023) and our midfield depth issues would vanish instantly.
The system is still crap. It needed a fuss made about it.
Whether we took our NGAs or not.
As you say, Lions a huge case in point.
Hope Basset continues to give them a hard time about it.
( We’ve got the sh*t draw already now, what else can they do?)

Was just looking back through the posts of Souup (who’s supposedly a recruiter, and who has testing numbers from preseason and so-on each year) on the North board, to see what he had to say about Tauru-as they were supposedly super-keen on him- and one thing that was very interesting was that he said Tauru was listed as 191cm and 84kg from the preseason testing this year, yet by the end of the year he’s now listed at 194cm.

Would be super-useful if he could squeeze another inch or two out of himself.

Travaglia is another one that might still be growing. He’s listed at 187cm, but someone on here said that Tobie said the other day that he was now 189cm, and he certainly looked it on the telecast on Wednesday.

He was shoulder to shoulder with Dicko during his interview and looked unquestionably taller than him, and Dicko is listed as 188cm.

I'm a bit annoyed we didn't draft Elwood and Adrian (and Lennox). Is there still a chance for the first 2, or are they going to have to prove themselves in the state leagues?

So which three should we not have drafted?

While I do feel for the three, the players we have taken do look to be better players.

I do think the Hoff does have a good chance of making it. Unfortunately he was trying to get a position in the team where we are now exceptionally strong.
