We might still be able to grab a future 1st for Shanahan or Jack Whitlock at pick 29 tomorrow. I really hope we cash in on that value...

If that is on the offer and we just go no thanks and pick Moreas, I will be quite sad. I don't mind him as a pick, but the value from these desperate teams needs to be taken advantage on.

I felt underwhelmed with the Hynes pick, but what should we have done? There were no sliders that we needed, and the two players I’d have reached for over Hynes went to GWS. Could have tried to get that North f1, but doubt we’d even been told it was on the table.

There's still some players with potential left in the 2nd round. Davis, Clarke, Gross, Moraes to name a few. We might yet come up with a gem or two.
We have been linked with Moraes at 27 Boxsall at 36 in the phantoms but that was before we traded pick 36.
Both are running freaks.
Moraes is an elite runner and Boxsall covering the 2km in just over six minutes.

90% of the guys who suited our needs are already gone so tomorrow night will be interesting.

Unless we grab a bolter you would think we are taking a combo of Moares/Goss/Alger/Davis/Clarke
We need speed and Moraes and Boxsall are both elite runners. Moraes also plays on the wing as a position of need for us.

Boxshall also has a 7.8 sec agility and a 70+cm VJ

Hynes is not a 3rd tall forward. Hes a general forward, can crumb, can snap, good at stoppages, can mark.
On top of that hes a competitive tough nut, a clear list need.

He's a power athlete who has only really had 24 months of semi professional training. Club is excited about what he can do in peak condition which will take a couple of years.

Mick Ablett compared him to Stringer in the coverage, I can see that.
Seems like a good kid too.

Clean up your spilt milk and get around him. He has huge upside.

Stringer, Powell-Pepper, Rayner he is that sort of player

Not quite sure why anyone is upset with a draft pick not suiting our current needs.

The amount of draft picks who immediately step up is very small, clubs normally trade in or FA in for immediate needs.

We were destroyed by the Hawks in the final by big bodied mids. We have 2 of our better mids coming towards the end in Libba and Trealor. We do not just need pace, we need strength and burst coming through.

Kennedy was our trade for this immediate need Cooper is the player coming through.

Sanders will step up a bit next year, who is an accumulater with good vision just needing time for development, but Cooper is exactly what our midfield will need in 2 to 3 seasons time. In the meantime he is more than competent to develop as a mid in the VFL and forward in the AFL.

Reading some of the posts here you would think all trades and drafting is to win the next year. Never has been. Our Trading amd development of younger players with time on the list will determine where we finish next year. Our Drafting will ensure we remain competitive in 2 to 3 years time.

Looking for a genuine winger/half back with speed and good skills for one or both of our next 2 picks.

That’s exactly my concern, we have no use for a third tall.

If he come on as a mid it’s a hit but it seems unlikely he’ll have a good pathway through to AFL footy via the forward line.
We don't have any use for a third tall right now you're right but thing change quickly in football and maybe the club know something we don't. On the flip side though the club may also believe he transitions into a full time mid.

I agree we should try to capitalise on desperate clubs with one of these selections. If no significant offer comes in though.

Noah Mraz as a Liam Jones replacement would be a good get and possibly best available. Widely considered best full back in the pool as bottom ager, foot injury meant he missed almost whole year.

Came back and tested really well at combine for agility and 2km time trial.

Moraes sounds like he could still be there for 3rd pick.

The team have lost its last two finals due to not being tough enough, which especially has been an issue in the forward line so I'm not sure how Hynes is a type of player who wouldn't help that if he's up to the level. I wanted forward of centre players with the first three picks so it's the right start in terms of type, some speed in at least one of the next two would be ideal.

Nearly everyone said they hope he will be a gun or kill it.

People are allowed to query is it the right choice list wise.

People are entitled to have different opinions as long as they don’t overstep with comments and no one has overstepped in relation to the kid.

Based on the logic of some on here if we drafted a KPF instead everyone should have celebrated and dare not query whether it’s what we need.

The minute the kids drafted I’ll support him none stop but I have the right to have an opinion on whether he was the best fit which isn’t questioning the kid but questioning the list management decision.

You do have that right. It's always interesting how many armchair list managers we have around here. Dare say most of us (me included) would've seen nothing of the draftees apart from their highlights.

Anyway, we'll see what happens tomorrow. Dare say our next few picks will be crap selections in some eyes as well because that's just the way it is 🙄
