Hello Shinboners!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

Didn't we trade essentially Pick 1 for Pick 3 and 12?

GWS paid 3 and 12 for 1, we didn't get pick 12 (sadly).

But the pool last year was more even, they wanted Cadman because he was the only one who said he wouldn't flee Canberra/Sydney asap from the top group.

It should be more expensive this year, even going from 2 to 1. I just hope we don't lose the shirt.

Stuff about Curtin sliding is interesting.
I'm actually not surprised. It also makes me think that we should try to hang on to #2 and only make #3 available to WCE as part of any deal for #1 if we think or know that WCE won't pick Curtin with their first pick. As I've said before, we need to trade on our terms when we have the upper hand in any negotiations with our strong trade hand. I still prefer not to trade for #1, but accept that it is likely to happen. I hope that WCE makes unreasonable demands that will force us to walk away. I really want Colby McKercher.

True that

If it goes through we have 1, 3 and 20 odd? Prefer what we’ve got tbh
I wouldn't be that surprised if we ended up with 1, 3, and 11 by using our future priority picks.

And if we did go for something like 2 + 15 + 21 for 1, I'd expect we get something back from WC, like perhaps their later second rounder. That's currently pick 36, and just happens to sit around the mark for Fisher. Darling as steak-knives would be interesting.

Just spitballin' tho.

It was always going to be more than we (as in the NM BF consensus) feel comfortable paying.
Every club’s BF consensus is ludicrously unrealistic, we can be the same. Then we can calm down and enjoy the footy. (Unless we are in minority who keep coming back and bleating about previous trade seasons.)

Do you think Reid has the tank to play midfield at AFL level? I feel that McKercher is a better genuine midfielder personally.

Reid seems more like a Cam Rayner except he can play both forward and back.
McKercher is more of a genuine midfielder but Reid is a better player, in my opinion. And he is a genuine match winner.

I’m actually fully on board of the get Reid train. The bloke seems like a c**t. A full ‘ball comes near me, I’m palming off this bloke, arrogantly turning around from 50, and slotting it’.
Made for going big in finals. The De Goey, Martin, Trac type.
Been a long time since we have had one of those.
I’m with you JJ!

It is totally different.... yes you would take wardlaw and sheez over JHF..... but this is Reid vs Watson/Curtin/mckerch/sanders

It all depends how those in the know view the different prospects
Im no expert but I would still take a combination of the players that you have listed over just Reid. We aren’t talking scrubs here, each one of those names are highly rated junior talents.

By the time Reid is drafted he is going to be the best player that every lived to match the hype. I find it hard to believe that the gap is significant enough to not be better off taking 2 x top end talents.

It’s the Rayner draft all over again where everyone was creaming themselves over being the next Dusty and if you took Brayshaw, LDU or Cerra in front of him you would be pissing yourself laughing right now. The only **** up in that top 5 was Dow. But even if you took Brayshaw and Dow you are in front of Rayner alone.

Cal said on Gettable that he reckons 2 + 15 + 21 would probably be enough for 1.

Suspect that might be closer to the mark than Jay Clark.

I’ve been saying this will be the deal for a while now.

If we wanted we could turn 15 and 21 into GC 11.
Gives WC either 2 and 11 or they just go with 1, 15 and 21.

I’ve also been saying make no mistake WC want to trade 1 and will trade 1. Just hope we are prepared to walk away and go to the draft if it gets silly.
