Asking for a friend robbieando, did you wipe out all of Hawthorn's picks when you forced Hawthorn to match your Will McCabe (f/s) pick?
Clubs that match bids would have really late picks remaining (that they may or may not use) after matching wouldn't they? E.g. if multiple picks are used, 1 is wiped out, others are stripped of points and go to the end of the draft (still as per club rankings).

GC also have options to flip a few they have banked next year as well. GC might this year but not sure any club has ended with a deficit they always find a way

I mean for this phantom draft (no pick trading). Clubs don't lose say 3 picks to match a bid, they would lose 1, but the others might be pushed right back to having few or no point value. Clubs might still have a list spot or want to use that late pick, it's not like Hawks in this example get to match an early bid and the league says that's it, you can't take more than 1 player to fill spots (when the rules say they may have to take more).

This is why I was asking about it pre draft, so that GC and Dogs didn't just have a bunch of really late picks that they probably wouldn't use in real life, but in this phantom draft might do it for fun and make my job even harder. But Hawks might need to make other selections.

Yep 100% for this draft GC are wiped and have a deficit. Have a feeling GC might just take the deficit if it’s the last one (might get through to the second round)

GC aren't wiped though, in real life they'd now have some end of draft picks (zero points). They wouldn't use them, probably don't have the spots, but say Hawks might.

yeah 100% sorry it's been that sort of morning and it's my month coffee detox (do this every year don't even know why makes me cranky lol)

Bump Ticky009 - hopefully now that you've updated the AFLW Media thread you can give your attention your draft pick. I have to go out soonish and I'm up after you. Plenty of good options for you - surely De Mattia must be tempting?

Nope Mattia is a GWS pick

Sorry all, had work stuff going on and lost track and Grand Uncle Horace bloody took Stevens for Cats:mad:

The Brisbane Lions pick Joel Freijah for a bit of outside run.

Callipygian thanks for your patience.

Having taken the best small forward in the draft, a guy who has been called the best since Izak Rankine, with our first pick, we're now looking to add some defensive flair to our back half. Fantastic at intercepting and a huge improver this year, Tew Jiath is our guy! He has still got a bit to work on but his talent is there for all to see and we have every confidence he will develop into a fine AFL player, like his brother Changkuoth. It also adds a large dollop of deliciousness that we grab him away from the Hawks NGA Academy. It's also easier to say Tew than Changkuoth.

Thank you very much. Now gotta finalise our thinking about who we will take with our 3rd pick. sr20 you're up!

Collingwood is going to take Western Bulldogs Next Gen Academy member Luamon Luol.

Will Hoskin Elliott was picked in the finals series as a defender ahead of Noble, and that's the role I'm selecting him for. An aggressive rebounding defender, runs his full measure and pretty good skills from what I have seen. Will slot into the Pies gameplan well.

Strength would be his main knock, but it's not something that can't be fixed with a couple of AFL Pre-seasons.

Dubai Quacker for Freo next

For some strange reason, for the past 2 years, every small forward playing for a West Australian club has requested a trade east for "family reasons".

Its perfectly understandable of course .... who wouldn't want to move interstate to be closer to their mother-in-law. Especially when, by pure coincidence, said mother-in-law happens to live adjacent to an AFL club offering large bags of money.

Anyway, we here at Freo won't fall into the mother-in-law trap again. We've done our due diligence - as part of our interview with Lance Collard, we asked what he thinks of Victorians. He said he hates them with a passion. We love that kind of passion.

At Pick 35, Fremantle selects Lance Collard from the Subiaco Lions Football Club.

Callipygian is now on the clock.
