Watching closely last night (hoping for a couple of minor one-week injuries :p) it was apparent to me that
they can be scored against quickly on the rebound IMO.
They take on the corridor , high risk , high reward footy. However.......

With the manic pressure we are bringing and our link up running, we can cause turnovers in dangerous spots and hurt them
going the other way. (Gonna miss Jessie in this regard :anguished:)

Our depth will be tested no doubt but they CAN BE BEATEN and we are playing the style of footy to do it!

Dow could be very important with his dash from stoppage and quick hands in congestion I feel.
Talk he could be injured too, I hope not. He came to the bench looking not so good but did go back on again late in game.

WE CAN WIN THIS !!!

With Cerra and Cripps back - Docherty can go back to the wing.

If Walsh misses I think we’re still okay with Cripps, Cerra, Hewett and Dow as the primary midfielders.

However, the loss of Silvagni is a harder fix. I thought Young was fairly useless up forward.

Perhaps Pittonet comes in and allows the Koning to play forward.

The key issue with Kemp is his one v one losses. 40 percent is not afl standard for someone who has as many one v ones as him. I think he’s a talent but he does need to focus a little more on spoiling until he can improve his loss percentage. On the plus side he does mark well and adds pace to our backline so overall I like the dynamic. He’s also only 16 games in. He will work it all out.

Out of interest, where does Mitch fit in the 1-on-1’s?

Really think he’s a weak link when it’s pack situation and any help is required.

Prone to drop the easiest of marks as well (and he overrates his kicking).

Based of the fact that clearly he wants to mark everything. He is also a very good kick, showed that he was a reliable set-shot kicker when he played forward last year.
He is doing well in defence, for a young player with a lack of experience. He is very versatile imo, at the end of his career it will be very interesting to see whether he plays more forward, or more back. Such a valuable player, a real quality swing-man.

If that’s the case, no better opportunity than now to try out with JSOS & H likely missing, unless continuity is the preference.

Marchy could be an able replacement down back (S.Durd’s too, more for a key post but McStay & Mihocek are strong lads).

Not going to be a popular post but my seats are near the bench so I could see a bit TV may not have shown
and I give JSOS in particular no chance of coming up unfortunately.
Once he cooled down his limp was severe and looked very sore. :disrelieved:

Highly doubtful Jesse as well , was limping.

No real idea on Walshy but could have Vossy put him on ice deciding game was over and
no point risking him? Let's hope so and it would have been a brilliant move if true. Fingers crossed.

HE WAS AMAZING, could have been the best half I have seen him play...... WOW !

The injury toll is cruel, at full strength in the form we are in, beating those putrid pies was on the cards.

As it stands our percentage gives us a free throw at the stumps this week as we could very well win our
remaining games taking us into finals.

We are close to THE FORM team of the competition and playing brilliant football.

However we will need some luck with injuries. It is just so tough, Kennedy, Harry and now yesterday.
I think we all need to say a little prayer. :praying:

GO BLUES!!!!
Hopefully just that typical " Silvangi" jean of walk bandy legged !!! LOL 😂

Walsh will be a massive out as we lose our one good runner in the midfield, I think Cuningham and possibly even Doch will be forced into spending bigger minutes in the midfield then what they would otherwise. We should compete well around the rest of the ground.

Okay, let's go back

Firstly, he didn’t opitimise our turnaround, his first 3 games back after being dropped for similar poor defensive decisions, were all losses.

Secondly, he is lucky that Young has gone off the boil and Marchbank still struggling with continuity

Cowan aside, Kemp is still our most inconsistent defensive player, that concerns me

On the plus side, love that he continues to back himself, is quick, aggressive runner wanting to break lines and mongrel

He is young and will continue to improve, so plenty of upside

He backs himself, breaks lines and has mongrel. He was doing this when the side was out of form and not doing these things. Regardless of what you think of his 'inconsistencies', the way he plays 100% epitomises the way we are now attacking the game.

You seem to pick out deficiencies in some players while letting others slide. It's okay though, we all have players we notice more negatively than others.

All players have deficiencies, but his lack of defensive first acts isn't a deficiency it's a mindset.

Hopefully that continues to get addressed with the coaches to give him and the rest of the backline improved cohesion

Even though we were shockingly out of form, we still had the same amount of inside 50's and more scoring shots than them last time we played. If we're relatively fit this time around we're money, baby.

We had a couple of unexpected wins against these bastards back in the early/mid 2000’s where the names Justin Davies and Adrian Deluca figured prominently- hope we can pull this off. :thumbsu:

Beaumont's 8 goals in the 1st half against the Filth in '99.

Was there.

Happy to admit I was very wrong when I thought it was an error to take Docherty away from halfback and shift him into the midfield.

29 at 90% with 9 clearances. He, Cerra and Cripps is a starting midfield capable of taking on the Pies.

I also did not realise how fast he is; considering his knee injuries he still moves very well.

I agree that Silvagni is the hardest to cover, especially with McKay out right now. Curnow is going to get heaps of attention from Collingwood - they will zone off onto him relentlessly. We will need other targets demanding the ball, otherwise we all know we will fall back into bombing it to Charlie and Collingwood will intercept and rebound constantly.

Martin back will help as he gets to good spaces. But we will need another marking tall. Pitto back and TDK forward is an option. Marchbank or Young into the backline and then Kemp or McGovern forward would be another option. Not sure that the coaches will want to mess with our backline mix, but also don't know if we have a lot of other options.

Kemps 1 on 1 loss rate is skewed by a shocker last week. Lost 7 of 10 1 on 1s. Only lost another 4 for the year.

I don't think we went into the year expecting Kemp to play key position. He will need to put on a few more kgs over the off season if that is the long term intent. He has the frame for it.
That game is also a bit of a misrepresentation, he got crucified by the umps, undeservingly imo

Great physicality in congestion too.

Can lay a bone crunching tackle.

It's why I have wanted him between the arcs for some time now and can't see him returning to the back 7 anytime soon

Runs all day both ways, reads the play brilliantly and has dash

Cripps, Cerra, Hewett, Kennedy, Walsh, Doc and Acres as our main mids, with Hollands, Cotts, Cuners the main rotations
