Don't mind the changes. Would've preferred Young to stay in ahead of Weiters but it is what it is. He hasn't been in much form either

Happy TDK is back. I wanted him in last week as it's clear we play better with the two rucks.

Poor SOS but he's reached the point where his heart and effort really don't make up for the lack of skill. I do believe that he has scope to being a potentially game changing sub. He seems to have a good to great quarter every week and then he's either gassed or the opposition have worked him out and his impact is limited the remainder of the game Can play all three parts of the grounds so can sub for anyone.

McGovern Vs Kemp is the one to watch. Whoever performs better will retain their spot in the 22 when Young is ready to return to form. Could be the last we see of McGovern in the best 22 as they're loathe to play him forward due to increased likelihood of injury.
A tad surprised Hollands wasn't "managed" this week. The sub out the last two weeks with last week's coming extremly early. Hoping he gets a full game this week.

Someone must've lost the keys to the Paddy wagon and they don't know where to find em. Not much else he can do to earn a call up yet there he is stuck in the VFL. Makes me wonder if it's a team culture issue (doesn't get along with others in the midfield mix) a coach-player issue or what. But it is a colossal waste of a list spot to have a player playing that well in the VFL and being unable to warrant selection when so many of those he's battling against are out of form and not meeting the standard in similar areas.i don't understand.
Won’t be Young coming to form that removes one of Gov or Kemp, it will be Marchbank getting fit.

That’s kinda what I was getting at, but some here seem unhealthily invested in the guy.
I agree. I posted earlier I'm not his biggest fan. But I just think you reward a guy busting his gut in the 2s and not put a line through him which they clearly did last year.

Exactly

Every, single preview thread

First 10 games last year "play Dow in a strong system"

Now "play Dow in a not so strong system"
Posters wouldn't be screaming for his inclusion if he wasn't 'knocking the door down' and if our midfield was performing. But the minute both are happening and the guy is not putting a foot wrong - selection integrity comes into a huge discussion point. Unlike some who don't like the guy, others just want a fair go for people busting a gut. Works the other way as well.

Yes, and it's good to see you're steadfast on your Dow views

If Dow goes to another club and plays well, there'll be no egg on the club's face because in your words, "anything can change"

Congratulations...the best "I'll have a bob each way just in case Dow proves me wrong" caveat I heard all year

To trade a contracted player, everyone has to agree - the player and both clubs.
That outcome wasn’t achieved with Dow during the last off season.
The club was very honest with him before and during the trade period that going elsewhere might present him with better opportunities at AFL level.
Instead, the club effectively gave up Setterfield and was hampered in improving our draft position.
Voss doesn’t rate him and the footy dept is probably a little disappointed about the off season outcome. Even more disappointing that Dow will go for zero return at the end of this year.
Thus I’m not surprised by Dow playing a lot of VFL this year.

I fully agree, he is doing things better at vfl level than he has in the past though.

In saying that, I don’t think he would go any better than Cripps, Hewett or Kennedy. Put any of those 3 in Dow’s role in the vfl and they would get 35-40 every week.

Add to that we haven’t even been playing hewett and kennedy in the same side each week, so Dow unfortunately offers us more of the same.

People are seduced by his burst from stoppages which you see maybe once a game which makes people think he is the 2nd coming of Chris Judd.

If he goes elsewhere he will only get regular games at a bottom 3 side. Not even sure he’d be automatic at Hawthorn or North, he would be at west coast.
We have players that get 20 plus possessions a week and have no influence on the game due to our short kicking slow ball movement game plan.

Cripps, Hewitt, and Walsh all handball more than they kick.

Dow may come in and get 20 Vs Hewitts 25 but I am sure he is going to drive the ball forward at least.

We have two starting midfielders that don’t take any ground, the only bloke who looks capable is Cerra and he gets pushed to the HBF because the Skipper can’t go anywhere else even when he can’t get a kick.

I doubt anyone on this forum dislikes Dow. Everyone would be thrilled if he makes it

Let me make it clear for you.

I have stated multiple times, IMHO, Dow isn't going to dislodge the starting 3 - 4 mids at any club.

If Dow goes to a club, that has a deficiency in the number of inside mids and encounter injuries, he may get a block of games

If he improves his flaws, he may surpass the peaking order.

If that's having a bob each way, so be it.

Now, perhaps you could make your own prediction, rather than worrying what I think
