The interesting thing is our MSD pick didn't get out until the very last minute. Wouldn't surprise me if we're linked to a player in the lead up to get another team to bite on trading up for 2 or 3 and we still end up with who we really want in the end.

What about Trading #11 and our F1st for GC pick#5...Tempting or not?
Wouldn't be appealing to the Suns as they are looking for Max points this year. Would need to be 11 & 14 or similar to trump some of the other offers (unless we agree not to bid on Walter in the first few picks)

What about 14, 19(via WC), 39 (2555 pts) to GC for pick 4 and 28 (2711 pts)
We'd on trade 4 to WC for 1 and other pick swaps, but means North and WC have the top 4 picks and can let Walter slide to at least pick 5 saving GC 630 pts.

so we trade out #11 and #14 for GC #4 (5) and end up with #2,#3,#4 (5)..Sounds good for me...

Am I reading the downside to the agreement wrong? I'd rather be a rnd 2 + pick than a rnd 1 pick. Yes I know rnd 1 picks usually get me coin on their second contract but under this scenario if your a rnd 2+ pick and you're flying, when given you're second contract u will potentially be better off than a higher pick who will still be on the base + matchies.

2, 3 and 5. It's only 4 now because the FA window hasn't opened.

Too much, we're saving them 630pts not bidding on Walter in the top 4 and in that trade we're giving them 400 additional points.

Unless WC bid on him at 1 which GC might well let them have him, allowing us Reid and Curtin at 2 and 3. Unlikely they'd risk it, so only North can save GC that 630pts. It would be foolish for North and GC not to work something out.

Sounds Ok im theory but the complex trades often fall over. Also hearing that Bulldogs, Crows and Demons would outdo it on points and Suns only care about the points.

But It would have to be way over our offer or we bid on him at 2. Means its costs you 2517pts, but if we have 2, 3 we can let him slide to pick 4 which is 2034pt (Hawthorns pick). You'd have pick 5 after we get 3 which is worth 1878 which is a 638pt saving that North and GC can share in a deal.

Edit: If we deal just with GC and forget WC. Pick 12, 15 for pick 4 (5) and 28 (29) would be about right. Ensure GC the capital to take Walter at 4 with a little dollop of pts to spare.

Then we target Haynes and GWS pick 6(7) somehow, even with future picks. Leaving us 2,3, 5 and 7. Taking 4 of Curtin, McKercher, Watson, Caddy and O'Sullivan. Cupboard bare for next year, but plenty of youth to work with so who cares.

Isn't this how its going tho? The best backs are all marking interceptors rather than KPDs.

Scrimshaw isn't even a marking intercepter though, which was why I compared him to him.

He's a tall half back flanker that gets it 25 times a game and kicks long.

Basically what McDonald thinks he is.

Yeah i read that as Sicily actually. Didn't even think of Scrimshaw.

Also ... GC have 34, we have 39 and 59.

They have 28, we have 34, 39 and 59.

Both of those trades give them a few more points to blow on picks and we have done well recently drafting players in that 30-40 range, which is where their picks would end up if we got them.

So even 4 and 28 for any combination of our late picks plus 11 and 14 could provide us with something worthwhile in the second round and give them enough points that they can pick later in this draft or get their entire academy and not go into deficit next year.

Tho personally I'd prefer 2, 3, 11 and 14 (even tho i know we only have picks 2 and 14 right now.)
