Fixture has finally been released (1 day early).

Gill would have been fuming it was leaked by The Age :laughv1:

Thankfully we seem to have finally ditched Easter Sunday and I think mother's Day? And no kardinia or Tassie away trips.

Kings Birthday Night eve vs * is an intriguing timeslot. If we get a decent crowd and TV ratings, maybe we can make it another annual blockbuster, like Dees v Spitmond on Anazc Day Eve ...

Have you seen the Pies- cam 4 th
Only play double ups against 2 finalists ( some of the other finalist play 4 teams that made finals)
Play 4 games interstate against interstate teams, none of whom made the finals.

That’s a draw you want
Yeah but their double ups include Cats, Lions and us. That genuinely could be 6 losses for them.

Rounds 1-12: We play against 7 Top 8 sides from 2022 (including a run of Lions, Dogs, Pies, Swans and Dees between rounds 8 and 12).

Rounds 13-24: We play against 3 Top 8 sides from 2022 (Dockers, Pies and Dees)

First half of the year is going to be absolutely critical if we are going to have some success in 23'.
The early rounds also have quite a lot of interstate games so pretty tough fixture before the bye.

But apparently our draw is rated one of the easiest and has a lot of prime time games so can't complain.

Huh ? We have one of the easiest (on paper) fixtures on paper. Happy we get Geelong early and only once (hopefully still nursing a premiership hangover)

It's a great fixture for us imo.
And interstate, SA and WA Bluebaggers get to watch us live too.

We have a huge community of Blues supporters up here in QLD and getting a game here is a positive especially with it being late in the year. If the Suns are as good as they believe they'll be it could be a true blockbuster prime time game.

And we get the double in Sydney for those folk too and for those on SE QLD to road trip it down to.

I don't think we have a game in Tassie though so that's the only 'loss' there.

We couldn't have really asked for a better draw supporter wise.

Given extra game in the season, and a number of sides who will probably win a smaller number of games, how many wins would be necessary to qualify for final? My guess 14... And for top four? 17 wins...?
Nah 13 for finals. Comp is too even. Last couple of seasons you have only needed 12 and percentage.

Still 16 I reckon for top 4 too but who knows

Eagles, Pies, Saints, Suns, Giants & Dees as our double ups.. Dees the only team guaranteed to be a finals player (i expect pies to fall away)

What it means is there is simply no more excuses, this team needs to not only just fall into the 8 but establish themselves as a key player and potential top 4 team. We should get off to another strong start, Tigers will be rejuvenated but we should be confident and traditionally the premiers start slowly so no reason we should fear Geelong round 2 and the rest should be locks if we are half as good as we think we are.

This is a pretty terrible fixture.

Round 3-5, back to back 6 day breaks including travelling twice.
Rounds 6-8, back to back 6 day breaks with a trip to Perth in the middle.
Round 11 we go to Sydney on a 5 day break.

And that's just in the first 14 rounds that are actually scheduled.
Interesting, hadn't looked at it this deeply. How many are against sides with an additional day's break?

And what break does our opposition have in those games?

Playing two bottom four sides twice, middle teams in Suns/Saints, and only Pies/Dees from the top 6. 18 games in Melbourne. Even the experts have our draw around 5th/6th easiest.
We don't have 18 games in Melbourne, we travel 6 times. Including Perth twice.

The teams you play twice is less relevant than where and when you play, especially when you're only guessing how good other teams are going to be.

It seems you and Stamos are assessing the draw using different criteria
Stamos - breaks between games/level of travelling
morningbrown - which teams we are playing twice

I feel everyone (including Media) has only look at what morningbrown is using and called it a great fixture. I'd be interested in seeing more analysis around Stamo's perspective though and comparing to our opponents.
