Thanks for the response - and yes, that's the general view. Just turn up on the day and don't worry about getting sprung. Not sure about everyone else, but that doesn't seem like an intelligent approach if there's a simple option that removes any doubt about getting entry.

But it's absurd that neither the club, or Ticketek have not provided a transparent answer to the question. I'll guarantee there's plenty in the same position, and I'm not sure why it's that hard. It's not like people are trying to bluff the system here ...... people are actually sticking their hand up and offering to pay the difference in the ticket cost.

I contacted the club and they're taking an all care no responsibility approach as expected - "yes we understand the question but you'll need to speak to Ticketek". Well unless I'm mistaken, the club has an obligation to provide support to members and you'd think someone from the club might use some initiative - speak to the ticket provider (Ticketek) - and then post a transparent statement on the clubs member page to avoid any confusion?

I used to attend on a concession for years: the only time I was ever stopped for a check was at the 2014 GF (as others have suggested, I'm pretty sure there's a light that goes off to indicate a concession ticket being). I don't know whether they specifically check at Grand Finals just to be pr!cks, but there it is.
My advice would be to get a student card (or whatever) from a friend if you can so you're covered on the off chance they do a check. I agree it's ridiculous you can't do an upgrade.

I did the KP thing in 07 after missing out on the ballot (and missing out on the Premiership membership upgrade too :/ ).

I allegedly snuck in twice as a record seller in 07 and 08. Undone by the jntroduction of coloured wristbands in 09.

Yes but the workers in McC get their own special ticket that gets them entry into the ground. The apron trick works when ur inside the ground and want to take advantage of getting into either the MCC or AFL members

I’ve always used concession tickets (albeit I’m entitled to as well) and my friends all use child tickets. At the gate where u scan and push the thing, it will not flash a colour, it will just say go, I’ve never seen them flash a colour ever at any major events.

The handheld ticket scanners if there are any at the G they detect concession and child’s tickets.

I’ve never seen the barriers tho flash a diff colour, they certainly didn’t at the prelims

I just mean the 17k for each club isn't enough and basically your lucky as hell or only the rich neutrals can go.
Nevermind me I'm just devastated I missed out basically.

The public reserve has 55k seats, and 20k of them go to corporates and packages. The AFL reserve has 22k seats, and 10k of them go to Medallion Club, AFL Life Members and Corporates. The MCC has 23k seats, and most of them go to neutrals (unless Melbourne played in a GF).

Best case scenario would be:

All 55k Public Reserve Seats (Gates 1, 3,4 and 5) go to Club Members in the Ballot

At least half of the AFL and MCC reserves should have club support of either team (ie Geelong or Sydney supporters this year). If they can't fill that from within, then to the closest bay, bays get added to the club ballot. This would mean at least 77.5k at the game are actual fans and not corporates.

Example: AFL reserve has 50 bays across levels 1-4. 25 of those are set aside for club support in the AFL reserve. They can only sell 15 of those to Geelong/Sydney supporters, so 10 bays are then put into the ballot for Geelong/Sydney club members (ratio based on members who are left without a ticket).

The barriers on the other side flash Green for entry plus yellow if Concession/Junior, but the people at the gate don't care about that as long as it flashes green. No one is paid enough to give a **** really. If you worked there on GF day and had 20k people coming through the gate over a 2-hour period, being paid $25/hr, you're not stopping people and checking concessions.

yea but it's just a light. They'd assume you're concession unless they checked your ticket, but again why would they bother? The handhelds will say Junior so they know you're full of it. The MCG they have no way of knowing without asking to see your physical ticket.

At this stage??? I'd rather be able to see the game for priority one tickets, some Priority 2 have better seats than the nose bleed section where we are. Hardly fair.

September members should be p2.

I'm happy to be P2 hence why I buy it each year.

If I wanted to upgrade I would but don't see a real need as I've gotten a GF ticket in every ballot thus far. That's just luck.

I certainly wouldn't parade around like an entitled knob thinking I'm owed special seating at a GF because I belong to some "social club". I've been in social club and it's nothing special! Certainly nothing to brag about on an internet forum.
