Ok let’s look at the facts.

We were one of the worst sides in the comp this season.

Our midfield was one of the worst going around and got beaten most weeks.

We have had two best 22 players who spend time in the midfield request to be traded.

We have clearly held discussions with JD about bringing him across.

So we are incurring losses to an already poor midfield and getting another forward who has a significant injury history, kicking issues and had one breakout season.

If we were a forward away from a flag then I could understand the risk, but I don’t believe we are close
Spot on. We are nowhere near a flag and due to a lack of forward 50 entries, Daniher will make bugger all difference even if he does play.

Wonder if we can get a player out of the Saints?

Apparently we were interested in Jack Newnes last year, but that interest has cooled. Blake Acres was the other name that has been thrown up a bit. There really isn't much on the Saints list that would excite anyone.

In an ideal world we would be able to trade Papley and Jones for two real midfielders. I think the team comes out ahead if we do that because there is enough quality on the list already in the small forward and running half back/wing positions to cover those roles internally, while full time midfield depth needs to be improved.

Maybe it was my misinterpretation of the quotes. I viewed it as just because we have several players retiring, we don't have all that salary cap space to spend. So downplaying expectations that we had a salary cap war chest to chase players with.

"There's things like salary cap we've got to be able to manage. Just because we have players exiting, it doesn't mean we're going to be extremely active.

"We're confident we've got some great young players and what we can add around them we'll look at that.

"We'd like to get a bit more experience here and there if we could, but it depends on what's available and what we can afford.
The fact that Daniher has nominated us, which we knew was going to happen, shows this was a fib.

No credence to that flog. He hates Sydney...loves little girls!

And besides that we don’t win in this at all. Lose our most influential player for some magic beans.
Sad times for the majority of Bombers fans, please look after him and I guess we will be seeing you in round 1

People really need to stop using the phrase 'superstar' to describe Daniher. He had one good season where he kicked 65 goals in 23 games.

His average Champion data ranking points across his career is 66! Just as a comparison - Sam Reid is 68.

We arent getting a 25 year old who could be the next Buddy if he gets fit. He is tall and left footed, that is where the comparisons end.

The best current comparison is Jesse Hogan. Good player, sometimes looks really good, sometimes looks really bad - constantly injured. I actually think when fit, Hogan is a better player.

But giving up really high picks for players like that is something that really dumb clubs do.
I'll let you in on something you perhaps you haven't yet picked up.
The Sydney Swans Football Club is respected by most other clubs in the competition, for the way we have gone about things in a non traditional AFL state.

By the time this trade period is done, we will once again have shown what aggressive list management is about.
Since winning our first p'ship in 72 years we have lived by the saying you have to give something good up to get something good back.
It's one hell of a ride as a supporter of such a club but the word "dumb" is not something that should be associated with our club.

I dunno where you have imagined that idea.

We didnt give up anything for Franklin or Tippett.

And we haven't traded anyone else in of note that involved trading out something good.

The only example I can think of is we gave up pick 19 for Ted Richards.

Do you mean Callum Sinclair for Jetta?

Thank you for letting me in on this though.

Why not do straight swap Jones for McIntosh. As close to lik for like that you're going to get.
