Yeah, I'm a worrier about things like that. Thought the same about paintball, good place to do a knee.:$
Looks fun but I can't shake the feeling with that first collision it's an ankle injury waiting to happen. Always good to mix things up I guess.
I also worry, but I think we've got to remember that they are people and should also have some fun.

Maybe he is working out the angles too shoot them in the back... Too soon?!?!

Btw I am on the camp that he stays and this is as all being blown out of proportion.
I am starting to swing the same way regarding Aishy. Surely if he wanted to head home it would have been at the end of this year, especially given the way Pickers handled the Boyd situation, surely Adelaide would have given up at least there first pick which would have allowed us to get Beams with both of our first round picks potentially. I know it's a bit of a conspiracy theory but i think Pickering is just holding and making us sweat a little so we raise the coin for the young fella, and of course for Pickers commission.

Yes BUT he is at the back of the group. If he was where Close was sitting or Robbo was standing l would have more faith.
if you are worried about where a guy is sitting in a photo before paintball then you have too much time on your hands.

I'd be more interested in what his attitude is like at training, does he have close mates at the club.

You know things that might actually mean something...

If anyone had read the Sam Mayes camp diary you would know he is captain of the maroon team. Never really spoken about as a potential leader but wouldn't be surprised to see him elevated into the leadership group. A real voice for the young kids of the club and really buys into what we have. Reminds me a lot of rocky the way he speaks. Underrated leader right there

Sounds like they're having a great time too. Closeys write up was also a nice read.

Anyone been to the training sessions and can give an update on Green? Reading over his roster watch it seemed like he had the makings of a gun ball magnet inside mid and likened to Diesel. I know he is our best small forward but wondering if he will ever make it to the midfield more often.
Would he really be of value in the midfield to us? He would probably be number 15 or 16 in our midfield pecking order as he hasn't played there for a long time. However, as a small forward he is probably one of the first 10 players selected IMO. His pressure around the contest is extremely valuable and he is a viable scoring option. IMO next year he could notch up 40+ goals.

Where can I find Closeys? I looked on the lions website but couldn't find it.

It wasn’t a great day for the late risers amongst us today.

A 4.45am wake-up call saw us all jumping in our team buses and heading down to Noosa Beach.

Despite plenty of wishful thinking by the boys, we hit the beach to find it would not be a leisurely morning swim.

Instead we were faced with the guys from Queensland’s Special Emergency Response Team (SERT). We knew then that it was going to be a tough session. They put us through our paces on the sand and in the water.

Part of the session included being blindfolded and forced to dig in the sand for two sets of car keys. It was like finding a needle in a haystack, and doing it in the middle of the night! Once we had the keys we were split into two teams and had to push two cars a couple of kilometres down the beach.

It was a gruelling 4 hour session and it was as mentally draining as it was physically. We were forced to really think about how we work together and by the end of the session you could see how much better we were working as a unit.

Once that was over it was straight to the lunch buffet. This is no doubt where I did some of my best work.

After lunch we received a text saying “we live in a bubble in Brissy, time to play in one.”

Turns out the next item on the agenda was Bubble Soccer. It made for a quite a funny afternoon, check out the video on twitter to see a couple of the guys getting bowled over!

Blue team took out the victory and Le Lork, or Dayne Zorko as you may know, dominated with 8 goals!

Now it’s off to dinner where I am sure I will once again be at my very best!

Cheers

Closey

I think they're in far greater danger of doing an injury like that on the training field than any extra-curricular activity.

Not sure why you quoted my post, I was sharing a concern for injuries.
a mayes ing Was being facetious, it's a running gag. ;)

I am glad that people have pointed out that "They have to have fun", and that "We can't wrap them in cotton wool" or "Stop them from doing other activities". I hadn't considered any of that. I feel much better now and can stop rocking back and forth in a corner, fretting for their lives. Thank you.

I'm not overly concerned or against the activities TFB, it was just a passing comment, but I disagree with your premise. Paintballing can involve some over-excitement in was is not their natural environment and commando rolls and diving into/behind trees, walls, barrels and tyres on uneven ground carries a little more risk.
Don't worry, I'm not chewing my nails with worry, nor penning an angry letter to the club, asking to stop putting our players' lives at risk. Not suggesting anyone need stop what they're doing, or that they should only do football stuff. It's all good.:thumbsu:

He'll never had the tank to play full time midfield. Doesn't have the lung capacity, etc.
