On the subject of trading Bell & Casboult to Brisbane, the AFL can't afford to have both QLD-based club sitting at the bottom of the ladder when the two QLD-based NRL clubs played off in the Grand Final. The marketing & expansion of the AFL game needs both of those clubs to be somewhere in the hunt every year to build interest & participation.

Casboult & Bell give them two big-bodied robust players who are ready to play Round 1, a handful of scrawny kids from the draft will take a few years to reach that same level. I'm not sure the AFL can have them down there for that long.

my best mate is cousins with casboult. he has been saying that carlton have been shopping him around for the last 2 years. Dogs offered huge money last year but not enough in a trade. This year carlton are getting offered more, but casboult still wants to stay.

realistically, he would be worth around pick 25-30? bell the same i would have thought?

that way maybe casboult and bell for 21 and 39? then on trade 20 and 21 for tomlinson plowman sumner and lamb? not a terrible result, although i love bell and cas

My best mate is Casboults cousins girlfriends dentists receptionist left leg. The Leg is telling me he wants to be a Blue Boy for life, just starting a family and laying down roots in Melbourne.

Surely Casboult is a Rnd 1...you know, 15-20. His kicking was his only real downfall as a power forward, and he turned the corner with that this year. I'd say 25-30 would be right based on quality alone, but quality + the position he plays.....

Casboult is handy but no world beater, now is the time to sell if we can get a good deal for him..

IF Bell and Casboult to Brisbane were to happen, we would have to receive their second rounder plus interest (Aish?).

TS do you think both Levi& Tommy will both be leaving us?;)

I'm reasonably sure Bell will be but the talk of Casboult is somewhat out of leftfield.

Being brutally honest, I don't care who we trade as long as there is a genuine plan in place and each deal done is in line with that plan and they contribute to setting us up for the long-haul.

Damien barrett and terry wallace just said on trade radio that in no world would tom bell get a top 20 draft pick. he said he'd be worth pick 35 at best.

both agreed that the deal will get done for pick 39, which is what sam mcclure also reported...

They talk to their managers. It's an easy rule to get around.
Peter Schwab said on trade radio that they had discussions with Bell and his management.
So they have spoken directly to Bell, as Richmond have admitted to doing with Yarran.
This against AFL rules so I dont know why such a rule exists if any club can just ignore it and there are no consequences.

Wallace seriously doesn't think before he speaks, he said because bell was a rookie selection that means that hes worth less than someone who was a higher draft pick? That type of thinking is so broken. May as well trade tom bell for Jack watts since jack was a higher selection and bell is just a speculative selection. Your draft position means nothing its how you perform.

i agree here, that sounded bizarre when he said that. he kept using sam docherty as an example, but he had barely played when we got him? and he was uncontracted

So on that basis we should get a top 10 pick for Yarran?
