After beating the Wonders last week, the Bears travelled to Gold City to take on the Royals at the Golden Throne. The Royals had finished on top of the ladder during the regular season but lost in the first week and were hoping to avoid a straight-sets exit.
The Bears started the game with all the momentum but, unfortunately, couldn't capitalise on the scoreboard, kicking the first 4 points of the match before Cap was finally able to find the middle of the two big sticks. The Bears would come to regret their inaccuracy as the Royals kicked 2 quick goals and took the lead. With all the Bears' forwards needing eye checks, Joshwoodenspoon went forward to show them how to do it and kicked the Bears' second for the quarter to cut the margin to 3 points at quarter time. A disappointing result for the Bears considering how much momentum and scoring shots they had in the first quarter.
This time, the Royals kicked the opening goal of the quarter, but this was like a shot of cocaine travelling through the Bears' veins as it awoke the beast within the Bears, who quickly kicked 5 goals 4 in 10 minutes. The Bears were now up by 26 points, but it must have been a bad batch as it quickly wore off, and the Royals kicked the last 3 goals of the quarter to bring the margin back to 8 points at half time.
Two more goals straight after half time for the Royals saw them take the lead. Josemourniho parked his bus and said, "No more goals for you, Royals," as he kicked a much-needed goal for the Bears that ended a run of 5 goals for the Royals. But this just saw the Royals get on another run of goals, kicking another 3 before Josemourniho was again able to score a goal for the Bears. At this point, it was Jose and his bus versus the Royals, and he needed some help. Bears' full back Joshwoodenspoon decided he would be that help and kicked his second for the game, and when Cap kicked his first just before three-quarter time, the margin was back to 6 and the Bears were back in it.
The Bears needed the first goal of the quarter, and they got it quickly from the boot of MWPP, or maybe it was Harry Potter as it was a truly magical goal. The scores were now level, and the game was there for the taking; it just depended on who wanted it more. Chipmunk, who had joined the Bears this season, has been storing his nuts away for the winter, but what we didn't know was he was also storing away a goal for when the team needed it most. And boy, did he save it for the right time. After receiving the ball from Rookiepick, Chippy took 2 bounces, steadied himself, and slotted the goal from 50 to put the Bears back in front. Seeing the sight of a Chipmunk kicking such a brilliant goal stung the Royals into action. Luckily for the Bears, they were choking in front of goal and missing easy opportunities, but the Bears couldn't gain back the momentum. Over the next 20 minutes, the Royals would kick 2.5 to have an 11-point lead. With 3 minutes left, Tandy kicked a point, but from the kick-in, Dingster used that hammer of his to intercept the ball and snap a goal, bringing the Bears back within a kick. With just 2 minutes left, the Bears had to do everything perfectly.
Big Testy was eyeing off the ball as the umpire bounced it, and he spiked the ball straight to the chiselled abs of Matera92. Bears fans sensed a miracle could happen. As Matera ran down the field, about to kick the ball to one of the Bears' leading forwards, he was dacked. With his shorts around his ankles, Matera tripped over and fumbled the ball. As he lay face down in the grass with his bare cheeks exposed to the world, the afternoon sun glistened off them like wrinkled prunes. The Royals swooped on the ball and proceeded to run down the field and kick a goal to end the Bears' chances. The Bears gave it their all but lost by 10 points.
Veterans Matera92 with 30 disposals and 10 marks and Art Vandelay_ with 29 disposals and 6 marks were standouts for the Bears. They even resorted to dirty tactics to get the win, combining to give away 7 free kicks. Test Tickle had 23 disposals and 14 hit outs, RonnieRaven collected 23 disposals and 7 marks, and Millky95 contributed 22 disposals, 6 tackles, and a goal, all putting in solid performances despite the loss.
JoshWoodenSpoon kicked 3 goals, with 2 goals each to Cap and JoseMourinho, and singles to Chipmunk, Dingster, Electronic_Renaissance, Millky95, MWPP, Shadow Man, and Tandy.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the reviews this season. I’ve tried to sprinkle in some variety and humour, sometimes successfully, and sometimes they’ve tanked harder than our season.

Is there a signing on bonus?
I can't get my head around test tickle until I come to grips with the terms about the signing on bonus and that will be a big relief in itself i imagine
