Playing with Testy is one of qooty's great privileges, and no-one capitalises on that privelege more than Testy himself. You can see him playing in the weights room, in the ice baths, at the beach runs, at the bus stop, in the lobby, at the cafe, in his sleep, on the swings at the park, in promotional material, in his passport photo, at the aquarium - anywhere! In fact, you can practically see Testy playing with himself with your eyes closed (the club psych suggests a range of treatments to subdue this).

It's little wonder then that ol' TT has managed to play 200 games at the Bears. It's what he does best. Truth be told, early doors we weren't sure. At first glace it's a little unconventional, maybe even a little off-putting. But sure enough we came to understand - it's just how Testy gets the best out of himself - and now, it's just second nature to join in. Double T brings people together: a heartbeat and a shoulder, a leg up or an ear or a hand. Actually, pretty much any part of the body seems to be of interest to the fellow. But from all this you can be sure, the guy will always have your back. It might be with an array of sponges and some strange lotion, but he'll have it, and there's no better feeling.

In ways you could never imagine, this prepares you for the big game. Striding out onto the qootball field with Testy feels like flying. You know you've got all the bases covered, you know you're not going to see anything you haven't seen before, you know if you're in strife he'll be there to mop up the panicked dish, or to lay a big bump. He'll run his guts out and then some. He'll celebrate your goals and take the piss out of your mistakes. He lifts the spirits and lifts the standards, and one day (mathematically) he'll lift the cup. But for now, we'll have to settle for the irreplaceable marvel that is Test Tickle, and bask in all the magic that he brings.

As the Bears took on the Hawks at The Eyrie, it was a double milestone match with MWPP and Test Tickle both bringing up their 200th games in Bears colours. One of them had 23 disposals, 9 tackles, 2 goals and looked like they were everywhere at once. The other… was gone by quarter time.

Eyewitness reports suggest that after a token early possession and a polite jog toward a contest, Test Tickle was last seen ducking down the race with a suspiciously cheerful wave to the bench.

Security footage later showed him perched at a nearby pub, half a pint down and ordering a plate of wedges before the siren had even sounded for quarter time.

When questioned after the game, testy replied

“I heard it was warm weather and figured I’d sweat less if I left early.”

Meanwhile, MWPP shrugged off the solo spotlight and turned in a classic BOG performance.

In the end, the Bears won, MWPP dominated, and Test Tickle still made it back in time for the team photo, with a drink in hand and a story to tell.

As for the game itself, the Bears made their presence known early. The double milestones didn’t stop them from exploding out of the blocks in the warm skies over The Eyrie. MWPP hit the scoreboard twice in the opening term, Art Vandelay_ was kicking behinds, figuratively and literally (most likely Matera’s) and the Bears held a commanding 33 point lead at the first break.

The second quarter saw the Bears keep the foot down. MKMatty was clinical around goals, Shadow Man popped up with one of his own, and spinynorman kept the run going just before half time. The scoreboard kept ticking over, and the Hawks had few answers.

The third term saw the Bears come out on fire. Art Vandelay_ put through two in quick succession, MKMatty and Matera92 both hit the scoreboard again, and Shadow Man added a second. The midfield dominance translated into scoreboard pressure, and the Bears found themselves 78 points up at the final change.

At that point, with the result beyond doubt, the entire squad reportedly joined Test Tickle at the pub to celebrate the milestone early. Unfortunately, that left the ground a bit empty in the last quarter. The Hawks took advantage, kicking six unanswered goals before the Bears remembered to come back out and Art Vandelay_ finally steadied things with a late sealer.

The Bears run out 45 point winners, to claim their 7th win of the season, and climb to the top of the ladder for the first time in Season 39.

Up next, a trip back to Vegas to face the 6th placed Gumbies.

Art Vandelay_ and Matera92 weren’t shy in front of goals, with Art finishing with 9 kicks for 4 goals 5, and Matera making the most of his 5 kicks for 2 goals 3. It was nice of the pair to share the ball around a little with their teammates too. MKMatty chipped in with 3 goals, while MWPP, Shadow Man and spinynorman all kicked 2 apiece, and Cap added 1 to round things off.

The Bears found plenty of the ball, with RonnieRaven leading all comers on 29 disposals and 5 marks, while SSSSSS wasn’t far behind with 24 and 7 marks in a dominant showing. Chipmunk and MWPP each finished with 23, Millky95 continued to set the tone defensively with 19 touches and 8 tackles, and spinynorman chipped in with another strong performance, racking up 18.

It hasn’t happened for a while, but we’ve got a Golden Donut, this week’s lucky recipient: I Dont Care

QOOTY STATS
Ronnie is the first Bear to get 200 disposals for Season 39, it really shows how much of a team effort S39 has been for the Bears.
Goals wise, Art is well enough ahead that we can probably call him the leading goalkicker for the season now, but the race for 2nd place is a hotly contested one with MKMatty holding a small lead over a large chasing pack.
