...draft period.
We currently have a first, second and two thirds to play with from 2025, all picks for 2026 and 2027
Possible trades: ChadWarner, Kozzie Pickett
Possible NGA players: Toby Whan and Basil Hart. What sort of players are they?
Possible delisting/retirements: Michael Walters...
But you need 10 mids on the field and the bench.
The elite teams play so many!!
(Ignoring the fact that most play 5 mids at the absolute maximum through the middle.)
I don't hate older players at all. I'd trade for Hayden Young and ChadWarner in a heartbeat.
But where the hell does Brayshaw fit in with LDU still at North?
We have Sheezel, Wardlaw, McKercher, FOS, Powell, Simpkin, Phillips all having played through the guts in juniors.
You recruit...
If Freo don't match.....
It's the same RFA situation as LDU, especially with 2 years pick trading set to probably be exercised next year. I think matching becomes far more viable unless you are getting obvious overs like McKay, Battle, Perryman.
I don't know why we would target Brayshaw...
Interesting you mention them. Perhaps they aren't so worried about having high picks next year as Brayshaw goes FA and then they acquire ChadWarner. Our midfield is far from set, I think we could squeeze Brayshaw in. I hope we do. It'll make not having a first rounder much more palatable.
...a lot of good footy and it paid off for me tonight.”
One of the first people to congratulate Urquhart was Sydney star and family friend ChadWarner.
But it’s a North Melbourne superstar who Urquhart is looking to learn off when he lands at Arden Street.
“I am super keen to get over there...
The only metric which matters right now is the most accurate one based on general consensus. That is, where he was taken and where he was rated predraft. That is the current reality. That may change.
What North believe he is worth right now in terms of pick 15 is anti consensus and at odds...
And we’d have touk miller over dan nielson
ChadWarner over jack Mahoney
Josh battle over Declan watson
Balta over will walker
Massimo dambrosio over kal dawson
Josh treacy over pat walker
Toby pink would not be on a list
This is fun
I could keep going but the list is fairly long at this point
While this is true, beema has a point that the value of the pick can be more fairly evaluated, whether it was a reach or a slide. Considering Jack was rated higher by pretty much everyone, I do think North could have got Matt a bit later.
That makes no sense at all.
You can't evaluate a trade based on pre-draft consensus.
The pre-draft consensus was the ChadWarner was a relatively one-paced player with a suspect kick.
Is that how you evaluate whether it was worth the Swans paying pick 39 for him?
The only metric that...
...with with some midfield craft as well as a keen eye for goal. Professional environment could easily clean up his game and he could be our ChadWarner pick! Yep, all that from a single game highlights video....
Always love getting behind a bit of a dark horse smokey so will look forward to...
...drafted McGrath as a #1 pick and he’s playing back pocket.
But I reckon with Travalgia’s competitiveness and quick hands, they see him as a ChadWarner type midfielder that can play inside and then when required can put the jets on and burn his opponent off, run 15 metres and then kick it long.
We can still likely get Prior now if we rate him
We can likely get one of Shanahan/Moraes now if we rate them this arvo
We wouldnt have Graham because I doubt he comes without Baker
We'd be massively overpaying Riley Garcia
We wouldnt have Hawks future 1st, 2nd and 3rd or our future 2nd or 3rds...
...take Garcia, Graham, Prior
Next year we are down to
1st + 4th + 5th only as picks.
Am happy to go in with low currency knowing we will target ChadWarner + also have Charlie Banfield as a F/S pickup beyond our 1st rounder. Split 1st if needed too
The end
Love from someone who isnt a dumbass
i don't think people are disputing the fact that you can find genuine superstars with late round selections, it's just that they are sceptical of collingwood being able to correctly identify a talented player in our pick range.
ChadWarner (39); Tom Stewart (40); Josh Daicos (57)
Darcy Cameron (48); Willie Rioli (52); Jack Graham (53); Jack Payne (54); Luke Ryan (66); Tyson Stengle (R6); Jack Henry (R16); Zach Guthrie (R33); Gyran Miers (57); Liam Baker (R18); Brody Mihocek (R22); Noah Answerth (55); Darcy Fort (65)...
You know what I think you might be right!
Reminded me of Chadwarners reaction after the GF and we know after next season he’s not hanging around either!!
