As much as I try and convince myself (and others) that we'll all move on, it will bloody hurt if he doesn't nominate.

Surely being able to offer the only guaranteed chance of playing the brothers together will help.
We can also offer him the chance to win an Ashcroft medal! Imagine winning a medal with your own name on it.

It would be upsetting to see him knock back the club but he is a kid with his own dreams & aspirations, he may not want to follow in his dad's footsteps and could prefer to leave his own legacy at another club.

I just hope he doesn't cop any abuse if he elects to go into the draft.

Lions to Ashcroft

Hugging Reaction GIF

People often mention that Brisbane is his best way to make sure he can play with his brother ... I know some families are close and playing with the brother is a dream come true for both ... I also know some families where there is plenty of love but the idea of carving your own path/not having the kid brother around/not in the shadow of the big brother etc would be equally appealing. Anyone know what kind of family the Ashcrofts are and whether the brothers are keen to hang together?

It's not like he's bound to us forever, he can come via father/son and after a year if he really doesn't like it here he can request a trade to the club of his choice he really can't lose nominating us.

Twomey now has Fletcher as a top 20 pick meaning both this year and nexts first round picks would be wiped out matching on both Ashcroft and Fletcher
Let’s be honest, we ain’t the best at picking in the first round anyway..

First off, I have to say I've never taken to Marc Murphy so perhaps I'm letting that dislike cloud my judgement...but here goes...

..Kevin Sheehan, AFL talent scout best in the business, was on RSN927 this morning with Daniel Harford talking about who is coming through etc, anyhoo both

Ashcroft and Fletcher got the best reviews by far and talked about whether they will nominate us or not and said not a done deal yet and remember that

Marc Murphy didn't so will be interesting to see.. then went on to say that Murphy is working and guiding all the boys..

Here's where my sceptical antenna went off.

Hoping Murphy doesn't influence our two to go elsewhere and make their own destiny like he did.

(they did say wow, if they both come to Lions, look out)

If anything I think he'll influence them in a positive way: go where you'll develop the most.

The answer is undoubtedly Brisbane.

Yeah, I haven't anything that suggest Marc has been negative towards Will going to Brisbane. I can't see it being in Marc's best interest to push one way or another if he is in a mentoring role. Just what is best for Will.
