Are there any details known or will it all come out at trial? Interesting to read in the DM article that he had a 'minor' head injury three months before the alleged murder.

I mean he also had a fractured vertebra, lacerated spleen, cracked ribs and a broken pelvis. God knows how he managed to move a body anywhere three months after that.

Those injuries included a fractured vertebra, lacerated spleen, broken pelvis and ribs and minor head trauma.

Police allege he would go on to murder Ms Murphy just three months later despite his injuries.

Stephenson's lawyer Moya O'Brien told the court her client still suffered from those injuries, which had seen him return to hospital while behind bars.

The court heard Stephenson had lost control on a bend, going into a slide that left him crippled on the road.

This just gets weirder. On one hand the article states he denies involvement.
But there is no way the police take him to the location unless it's to search for a body. Also there is a limit to how many times he can be interviewed he could simply refuse.
Also with his injuries he wouldn't be able to move a body himself.
Most likely he may be giving up the location in exchange for manslaughter

Let’s hope if POS knows the location of Sam and leads detectives to her. Do it for her kid at least.

I can only imagine if something happened to my family how upset I’d be at the situation. It wouldn’t bring them back but better than a lifetime of not knowing for sure or having the opportunity to farewell them.

If POS is found guilty and does not reveal the location of the body, hopefully he cops life with no parole. That would certainly give him plenty of time to reflect on his alleged actions.

Victoria has No Body, No Parole legislation

A Plea of Guilty is one of the factors that the Court can take into account when sentencing and may result in a discount

The Defence have had time to examine all the evidence compliled by the Prosecution

The Defence may be weighing up and explaining to the accused in words of one syllable what a continued "Not Guilty" defence may mean to the rest of his life; even on a "light" sentence he'd be in his 40"s before he sees the light of day.

Possibly. But from the outset the advice seemed to be stay silent as the case is circumstantial and stuff like injuries actually are in he's favour.
This seems a massive about face.
There must be some real smoking gun so to speak that's been uncovered.

Also late last year he was taken into bushland but plead not guilty after???
So is he re tracing steps to find the location clarifying another aspect of his story or is this a questioning technique? But again he can refuse I think.
Whole thing is strange. And did he have help?
My best guess (guess only) is its a hit and run. He's panicked got rid of the body and someone dobbed him in hence being put under surveillance. He's now trying to locate the body and cut a deal for a lesser charge.
But who knows? Could be absolutely anything

There may be any number of reasons police took him to the location where SM was last 'seen'.

( I assume this is the location police believe the incident occurred, but since there are no witnesses, I am not sure we should be referring to it as 'place last seen' - the last place she was actually SEEN was in her driveway)

Anyway, they are not searching for a body there - they have already searched there extensively. She isn't there.

Possibly they wanted POS to re-enact his movements at the site (assuming he admits to being there at all!).

Possibly they are trying to get him to give up some detail or lead them to a piece of forensic evidence they have missed so far?

Possibly they just want to observe his behaviour?

Possibly POS himself or his lawyers want him to explain his movements, or provide further alibi evidence?

But they are surely NOT looking for a body THERE.

He has already pled not guilty and a trial date has been set. If he changed his plea we would probably know.

Maybe they’ve uncovered more evidence?

Digital forensics can sometimes take a long time, depending on whether information was deleted, encrypted or just the sheer volume of it.

I'm pretty sure thou police can only interview someone on remand so many times. He would have to consent to the interview who knows?🤷‍♂️
Fact he has is interesting and assuming he's legal team ok it.

Also interesting what he has told his legal team. And how he's instructed them. There are limits what they can argue (particularly if he has confessed to knowing the location).
Maybe he's legal team told him to shut up have reviewed the evidence think he's cooked and are negotiating a deal?
Everything really just guess work.

One of my prisoners promised some evidence about a murder he committed, took the officers out to some bushland, he just wanted to collect some seeds for his propagation!!!

I missed the Don Burke conviction

So, POS had a marijuana crop out where SM disappeared from, and maybe that's his alibi for being there? Just doing a bit of gardening?

From the beginning, it's been reported POS has not been cooperating with the police

In the Herald Sun article it states 'But it is understood a critical part of the investigation has surrounded Mr Stephenson’s internet searches.'

Just read the article in the sun. Seems missing persons is the team taking him out not homicide. So trying to replicate SMs movements
Either he has driven off dumped the body and doesn't know exactly where and attempting to locate SM and re trace movements (and a lesser charge) or the police are getting desperate. Leaking this to the media and the phone staging and its pretty bizarre after all parties were air tight for most of last year.

Not if they think another person may be involved?
