All thus talk of Collingwood being brave with trading .... they were over the cap and had to get rid of Treloar, Stephenson and Phillips for a bag of chips or they would have been sanctioned. I'm sorry, but there's a lot here and I'm tired, so I'll make 2/3 points to consider and I'll leave it at that.

It's not on me or the supporters, it's on the board - yes that is mostly true, so why do the supporters who know nothing of the inner workings of the club, the people involved, the game plan and method, and have absolutely no input to what the club does let alone the players and the game they play, come on here/talk back radio/YouTube/podcasts and scream the house down on what the club/staff/players should be doing?
Every single one of them has infinitely more experience than you or I, how about you let them do their jobs and mend any mistakes they make?

I don't care how many coaches we sack - Probably why B Scott, Buckley, Pike, Dew, Roos, Clarkson, Mitchell, etc refused to even be linked to us in any way shape or form. We had 3 coaches to choose from. 3. And we supposedly had a list people would trip over themselves to coach.
Even if I got a job at a place I hated, I probably wouldn't be working as hard as it takes to be the best in my chosen field. Would you?

Voss was never the right man for the job - sure, you don't know who the right person is, just who isn't. No-one was saying that after we went berserk and eventually knocked the Dees out of the finals.

Look, I too hope we sort it out quickly and get the season back on track before we miss our chance at finals, but I'm not going to let this issue rule my world. We employ people at the club to do that and they need as much opportunity to fix their mistakes as they have to make them in the first place.

1. If the club didn’t make mistakes and the supporters trusted their decisions, there wouldn’t be an outcry. You said it yourself, ‘let them fix their mistakes’. Problem is they have had multiple goes over 30 years to fix their mistakes!!
2. When the club takes or asks for peoples money to stay solvent, they need to be accountable and transparent. In this case success would lead to 100k members and dollars. Failure would lead to less. Can’t have your cake and eat it as well.

Add to this unpredictable injuries, players misbehaving, crazy tribunal sanctions, a rulebook that is open to interpretation, and the very unpredictable nature of our game right down to the very bounce of our egg shaped ball.

Every day of every year we are up against it.

If you can't handle it when things don't go to plan, you should probably switch to a much more predictable past time.

Things haven't been going to plan for a very long time... too long in fact. This club isn't just a past time for a lot of people, maybe it is to you - which is fine, but don't expect others to feel the same way.

There are people who make sacrifices so they can pay for their membership(s) and have done so during the last two and a half decades of mostly mediocrity so they can support the club. The least this club can do, is stop virtue signaling, stop milking any opportunity to plug a sponsor and start making winning premierships the main focus. Don't tell me it is.

If we can turn one of our best players into 2 picks that can be split for 1-2 small forwards and some run off half back - we should be very open to it.

I’m all for a mini rebuild, absolutely against blowing the place up. I don’t have it in me to do another 66(6) game rebuild

Why should supporters care is part of what i am reading in your first point because that's is in a small way what you are saying without maybe knowingly saying it.
How has their infinite more amount of experience worked out so far?
The thing is you do not always need to be on the inside to see what is going on. If you know anything about footy you can see it because every week it is on display for all to see. If a coaches tactics are wrong they can be seen by all. If the players aren't putting in they can be seen by all. If the club has financial problems it can be seen by all. When there are failings in big organisations they can be seen by all.
You don't need to be an ex AFL player or an ex CEO of a footy club to see the obvious.
I am sorry those mistakes have spanned into nearly 30 yrs now
I remember at the start of the most recent rebuild they asking fans to be patient and it's short term pain for long term gain and we want to be a consistent contender not a club that is good for a year or 2 then drop out. I can tell you Carlton fans were the most patient and forgiving they ever could of been through the Bolton era because they were promised long term success. What are we 8-10yrs on now from that rebuild and where are we? Brisbane started their rebuild around the same time and where are they? Hawks started after us and where are they?

Coaches.
Let's be real here as far as I am aware Buckley and Scott were never looked at and what in their track record suggests they would be worthwhile in the first place.
Pike had his own business to run and wasn't interested in senior coaching anymore.
Roos was done.
How did Dew go at GCS?
Clarkson was never coaching that year because Hawks p***ed him off so he took them for the last year of his contract after they decided on Mitchell to coach.
Mitchell was never ever going anywhere else but Hawks full stop.
So we took Voss who they admitted lacked tactically but thought he could build a good culture. Nothing in his resume screamed excellence. Failed as Brisbane coach then went and sat under Hinkley for the remainder before joining us. I can tell you now there was basically no one at Port who thought he was going to be a huge loss. Based on the obvious facts Voss was a poor choice. Actually more of a wtf choice for me.
Me personally i would be all out for Longmire. Excellent resume, kept his team at a high standard his whole career, his players loved him I mean obviously so because even after all those years of him coaching them they always turned up to play and numerous other reasons but that's just my choice.

I will just finish by saying in regards to your point on supporters ringing radio stations etc etc. You want people to be ringing and saying these things good or bad. The worse possible thing to happen is they stop ringing or stop complaining because then that means they have given up caring and when a die hard supporter gets to that stage there is generally no coming back because the club has broken them. Everyone who comments here good or bad is a passionate supporter that is obvious otherwise they wouldn't be taking the time out of their day to type anything.

1 thing is obvious we all want success and people are going to react different in different stages of getting there.
Even if I don't agree with you or anyone else I know you and they want to see Carlton successfull which is all of us supporters end goal.

Exactly this. This is one thing that is very much overlooked when discussing Calton and their failures. Kids don't want to barrack for losing teams.

But this isn’t accurate, Collingwood won the flag with no key forwards, Hawks main key forward is a 3 club journeyman they got for a 3rd rounder and Brisbane won last year with Daniher, Hipwood and Morris (may have this name wrong), Daniher is solid but the other two don’t excite me, Sydney’s main forward is Amartey.

Losing Harry and Charlie together would be dumb but with the currency you would get, you could easily find other players to kick you a score.

I think we are stuck in terms of $$$$ and picks, so I think something’s got to give, but I still think the core is strong enough to be able to challenge in 2027 if we get picks, players and $$$ in this year.

If the club thinks we can’t contend by 27 then we should be cutting deeper

The last sentence is inflammatory and redundant - the rest of your posting ( as usual) is spot on.

Forums like this are dominated by people with expectations fuelled by passion - if expectations are misaligned with potential and results - the inevitable consequences are anger, frustration and demand for change.

No one who posts on here is privy to all the relevant information and at best some people sometimes get a slither of so called inside information and people then go on using this slice of information to make stories and narratives that suit their current mood.

All we can do on here is look at results and speculate on reasons/excuses.

The facts of 2025 are:

A: The President resigned due to a stupidly embarrassing social media post.
B: The replacement lives in Sydney.

1. The Club is currently sitting on 0-4.

2. The playing group has been unable to sustain leads in every game

3. Substituting underperforming players for alternatives is difficult in too many positions because the list lacks developed depth.

Question marks about coaching and list management point to potential issues in both areas as well as those responsible for supervising those areas.

Which ( as usual) leads to speculation about player preparedness, happiness and performance.

to that end to add to frustration and misery

1. Harry McKay is not playing AFL and has some soprt of mental issues ( although he is trining and playing VFL - a very strange situation pointing to all sorts of strange things which cant be really speculated on as the word 'mental' now defines a no trfick zone.

2. TDK a key signing has delayed signing

3. E Hollands has had to take personal leave for 4 weeks -0 which lines up with the player protected zone of non discussion but assumed breaking of substance use rules

4. A number of players who were fit in pre-season are suddenly on extended unavailability including Pittonet, Fantasia, Cottrell

5. The VFL team is rubbish


There is nt much good news coming out of the Club - and it all looks rather grim. This isnt what most people expected to be the case - and is a far cry from the Clubs messaging which expected a top4 finish according to the exiting CEO.

We already know that the Head of Football is leaving - although there has been no official CLub announcement.

It is understandable that passionate supporters are very very angry.

Yep they mismanaged their cap and were forced to get rid of Treloar and Grundy - however lets consider how we would manage, if we were forced to get rid of our best ruckman (De Koning) and say one of our current starting midfield say (Hewett or Cerra) right now.

They all still had competitive KPFs in place. We'd only have Lemmey left.

And the real key is they all have about 3-5 fun small forwards around them, we have 0 on our list.

I was just responding to Soapy's post re TDK wants success. And he won't get success with the Saints,will have to go elsewhere if he wants success over money.

Saints are closer to success than we are right now.
They have players that can hit targets and a coach that will not except poor performances.
