My two cents on this rumour -- I've been critical of Austin but if we move Austin on without also moving on Agresta and most importantly Lloyd we're moving on the lesser of three evils.

The GM of Football and the national recruiting manager should take the fall at the same time as the list manager if not first.
Spot on as per usual.

The same argument that many here use to support Voss could also be used to support Austin.
How does a team with such a bad list manage to be placed 2nd on the 2024 round 18 ladder?

Refer to my post in the feral thread. We rely on too much from too few and demand even more from unknowns. Owies and Kennedy were only B-graders but having two B-graders consistently putting in B-grade performances like they did would make a helluva difference to this team especially when one of those B-graders was the best player in the team at his position.

We cut too deep with no short term fix especially with Elijah out (which couldn't be foreseen, obviously).

We are obviously built for now and there not. But it’s not good if things keep going the way they are

I do not agree with this. My belief is that list management and recruiting have tried to go in two different directions.

The top of the list and the older recruits are built to win now.

The rest of the list is almost entirely being built for the future. We have a lot of players who are at least a year away from becoming reliable performers in a successful team.

Agreed. You'd have to assume that (especially) leading into the off-season, but all throughout the year, the LM and Recruitment team would be having strategy meetings with the GM of Football. Assessing the list itself, the contract status and value of certain players, the availability and suitability of opposition players, and the progression of potential draftees.

If Wright feels that we've made a mess of our list profile and strategy, then anyone and everyone involved in those meetings needs to be apportioned some degree of accountability. Doesn't mean you turf them all, but you've gotta review them and determine if they're dialed in enough with the state and direction of the game. If they've made a justifiable error that can be learned from, maybe they stay. But if they're just not canny enough to be trusted with short, medium AND long term strategy without having their hands held by someone else, then time for them to go.

If you couple this rumour with the 'a lot of player movement rumor' the day before, it sounds like Wright might be looking at a bit of a 'slash and burn' of a couple of big contracts like he did at Collingwood (I think it was Wright ??).
Lets just hope he slashes the right contracts. I'm not a fan of paying big for a ruck but I think TDK is good enough that you have to keep him.

Not sure that's entirely true...

If you're talking about Collingwood in 2020 when they traded Treloar that was Ned Guy.

Wright replaced him then traded Grundy.

CB I can tell you that after talking to another clubs recruiting manager, outside of Jagga, Lord and Ofarrel, that club doesn’t rate any of our other youngsters. Including both Campos. Just passing on what I was told FWIW.
How to pass on my opinion while trying to seem credible. Ok I will make up a bs story about another teams recruiting manager disparaging another teams list to a pleb off the street. Good luck selling your crap newbie.

Lloyd is already confirmed to be moving at the end of this year, so he’s one of the three. But definitely agree on Austin and Agresta.

I rate C4, but calling that confirmation is a stretch.
Also here

Blues and Eagles have agreed on Pick 12 & 14 for 3, 63,68 and a mid range pick that eagles will get in as part of player movement to cover F&S points. Expect announcement Tuesday.

Draft Target is currently Lalor over O’Sullivan but is close and strong debate internally - either way club extremely happy !

Believe 1 of those 2 players will go pick #1#1.

Lloyd wont be at club at end of 2025. Both parties agree time for change in that role.
Timing with wright being managed.

Rob Inness has reviewed Blues fitness program from last year - significant change coming in both weights room and core strength work …….. Players fit but bodies not match hard and some key list indicators well off Swans levels as a collective !

Enjoy 2025 - Internally very confident !
