Yes from what I've heard I believe the "technical difficulties" is code for "Longmire absolutely losing the plot". Probably ripped his mic to shreds or something.

Overall I enjoyed both of them. To me it's a bit like pizza; even when it's bad it's still good. Perhaps we sort of tune into these presentations hoping to feel those feelings we felt on 28 September, but the truth is, the only way we can really get those feelings again, is to see our guys (and/or gals) get back up on that podium again.

I think Simon Black described it best in Dynasties: winning a flag is a bit like eating junk food. It tastes great at the time, but it's not very nourishing - you just crave more of it.

Honestly I watched most of them with a smile on my face, without actually realising I was smiling until right at the end haha

I wonder if another premiership will feel as good as 2024 or just like the icing in the cake. Sweet and all, but lacking the substance of the cake.

I've had lots of flashbacks to the 2014-2017. Crowds non existent, finding ways to enjoy something that happened during the game and leave the gabba laughing with the kids. Fixating in players to dull the team performance.

As good as we are now, these memories are the special sauce on this premiership. Another one in the next few years will just have plain tomatoe sauce.

Yeah and to be fair 2001 was similar. I remember a good mate of mine back in Tassie (a North Melbourne supporter) actually laughing at the fact that Brisbane had won the flag.

He found the notion completely preposterous, after years of not only the Bears and Fitzroy being absolutely rubbish, but then even when we got good, North knocking us off in two prelims.

It's funny how the tables can turn. And they will turn again. So best to enjoy this period, whatever "this" is, whether it ends next Saturday or lasts another 5 years.

I think it will if there are different storylines. I've been thinking about this myself - could I make another movie/documentary? Let's face it, no season and finals run will ever beat 2024 in terms of "come-backs", proving people wrong, underdog narratives, etc. Chronologically we went from our lowest low (reflected through Fagan's lowest low) to the highest high on the final game day. Another season of this would be more of the (absolutely delicious, mind you) same cake we've tasted.

If the season is totally different chronologically, that will keep us on our toes and a different win might bring new, different gratification. E.g. Maybe we totally breeze through regular season and finals but then have our hardest match-up/challenge of the year in the GF where instead of easily winning by 60, it is one of those grand finals like 2023 where just one goal is the difference.

Alternatively or additionally, the cake would taste even better if some of our long-term players who missed out in 2024 could get a medal - such as Dizzy and Linc. Maybe Ty Gallop fills Joe's shoes?

If we got a win with a slightly different squad, we had a totally different regular season and a stressful GF where the winner can't be sure of a result until the whistle blows, I think the win would taste doubly as sweet and I'd have the narrartive/content to be able to make another doc/movie.

I couldn't imagine a premiership this year feeling close to what this years was. If there was some dodgy umpiring decisions that cost us top 4 spot in finals or to lose a final in a few controversial plays then I could see a premiership in 2026 having some of the same vibe but only 80% of the way there.

Dancing was enjoyable enough.

Pounding had me in tears several times - it was on another level. I just wish it was so much longer.

Update from an email sent this morning: "Thank you for taking the time to apply for the Digital Content Producer role with the Brisbane Lions. After careful consideration, we have decided not to proceed with your application."

I do not want to seem conceited but I am pretty sure that I wrote an outstanding application?? So, I'm assuming that they didn't appreciate the documentary/mini-movie, are looking for a safe (boring) option or just didn't read it :tearsofjoy:

As the comments continue to flood onto the video (telling me that I should work for the Lions), and Lions fans continues to share it on our social media groups/networks, I will sleep peacefully at night knowing that at least the streets backed me ;) Thanks for your support!

I think it's highly likely that they just do basic scanning for keywords and experience up front before looking at anything in further depth and you probably got filtered out by that. :(

I covered this by emailing them directly and the lovely kid who looks after my membership personally forwarded it to the HR and social teams (he actually phoned me to check on something and said that, as he had a reminder to call me on his desk, multiple people had seen my name and told him to ask if I was the person that made the movie).

At least the fans loved it <3

IDK maybe I shouldn't have said, "As a passionate consumer of digital media, I maintain an active awareness of developments in digital trends and technologies, and engage with this discourse through various social networks. Since I do not have a professional background in media, I offer a unique perspective of how effective these developments are in connecting with the Brisbane Lions fan base. Indeed, my personal experience as a fan has led me to identify gaps in the Club’s media production. Furthermore, my engagement in fan forums has offered me strategic insights into what social media content is most valued by fans and some ways the Club could expand its online following."

And instead said, "You guys are the best, go Broncos <3"

I know easier said than done, but hold no bitter feelings. Keep knocking on other club doors. The Giants recognise talent, give them a go and so on with other clubs. Keep producing your stuff independently and maybe once done, offer it to clubs.

I appreciate it mate but nothing to worry about. Besides, I could never support another club and would find it hard to be employed by another one. I also don't think that I would be very good at creating content for a subject or club that I have no connection to!

TBH they did me a huge favour bc there was no pay noted on the application but other content producer jobs were listed at $60-$80k maximum (e.g. Broncos content producer job was listed at $71k), which is like 2/3 of my current income, so at least I don't have to entertain financial irresponsibility to do something that I'm already happy doing as a hobby
