Worry about filling the leadership void on the cheap, we need some new voices from successful clubs for a different perspective, look at bringing in some older guys like North did with Luke Parker last year.

That ANB guy from Adelaide would be a good fit. Probably only cost a second rounder.

Trade Trac and Oliver for a first and 2nd rounder each.
Trade Pickett for 2 firsts
Trade Fritsch for a 2nd
Trade Sparrow for a 4th
Trade Salem for a 3rd
Trade Petty for a first
Trade Rivers for a first

Take 6 first rounders, 4 second rounders and 2 3rd rounders to the draft and pickup 12 kids

2 Key Backs
2 Key forwards
2 Small forwards
2 Mids who can kick
1 Medium sized forward
1 General defender

Pickup Ned Reeves to ruck.

Think you're overestimating what Petty and Oliver would fetch us right now.

Petty I put 2nd rounder but figure round 1 goes up to like pick 25 these days so swapped it back. Someone will chump up for a KP swingman.

Oliver you might be right but again, his contracted so I’m sure we could pry a 1st/2nd from a Geelong.

I'd rather keep Petty over Lever.

Dont see the point in trading Rivers either. He's the type of player who is suited to the modern game and we need some guys in their mid 20s.

You do realise those 6 first rounders will be massively pushed back by Academy and father -son and it's a weak draft.

Trading Petty, who is going to be our full back when May retires?

Trading Rivers, who we know is a young good player but in a form slump (due to bad coaching and ambiguity about his role) to pick up what?

Trading Fritsch, our best natural forward who gets the shittest delivery in the league in a forward line that looks like an Indian train station for an unproven young forward?

No doubt change is required in the list but you can't just blow it up.

Na, Lever is better leadership for our dirty dozen of draftees.

Gawn, May, Viney, Lever to show them the way.

Would try bring in one or 2 senior players from other clubs on the cheap like North did.

2 new KPB will replace May.

Every year there’s academy **** around in the draft, we can’t just avoid drafts because of it.

Literally been called one of the most compromised drafts ever. Would be completely stupid to trade every one out for picks now with that and then Tassie.

These two new backs, who are they? Because if they are 18 year Olds you do realise they will take years to mature. You can't just chuck them straight into the backline. Or are you suggesting 2 specific back men out of contract at the end of this year?

Isn’t that what Adams has been primed for? To play as a KPB? We will also still have Lever, throw in a mature defender to fill the void for a year or 3.

Connor O Sullivan is going alright in his 2nd year.

They say that every year. What’s the alternative? Hide from the draft for next 4 years or so while our list is shit and no one wants to join us?

Our leadership hasn't exactly kept the house in order over the past 3 years. Not sure we'd be missing much to move a couple of them on. Guys like Fristch and Rivers though a big no for me. Taking two of the guys who actually suit the modern game out of a team who lacks this sort of player is just silly. Think a switched on coach could have both of them looking very good again by next year.

The alternative is be responsible about it rather than trade out half the list for rubbish picks.

You sound like Lamb, anything after first round is a rubbish pick.

Probably why we gave up picks 14, 27 & 35 for pick 11 (which became pick 13 anyway).

Now we are running around VFL battlers due to how shit our depth is.

At the moment we have May, Lever, and Petty plus TMac. May and TMac have one year left tops. Lever is not in this conversation because he is an intercept defender.

You are proposing to trade our only young (what is Petty, 25?) experienced key back out and replace him and the 2 other old guys with an unproven VFL player, an unnamed mature defender we are going to trade in (why bother if we already have Petty) and a first year player.

I'm sorry but I find it really hard to accept your opinion some times.

So one point out of like 10 I made you don’t agree with? Ok then, cherry picking at its finest.

I get everyone has been rage posting, but come on man, it's Monday now, time to use your brain.

Kozzy is gone, Trac is probably gone, that much top end talent and x-factor from a team with next to none outside of them is massive. That will get you enough currency to get a couple of quality players again this year, but it won't be anywhere near their actual value.

It's just completely stupid to even bother entertaining your thoughts around trading out half the list when you haven't considered either the context of the next few drafts or the overall position of the list and what having that many under 20 year olds will do. If any team's fans should understand how bad it can be to go with all young players it should be Melbourne's fans.

But yeah, I get it, it's Big Footy, it's hot rage takes or nothing.

I think we do a Richmond to be honest. Get half a dozen first rounders for our blokes who are leaving anyway or are about to go off a cliff with age.

Restock aggressively before TAS comes in rather then dicking around taking 2 picks at the draft like we have been trying to do.

Bring in Duursma, Ah-Mu, White and a pack of others.

Everyone here loves the term ” trade for first round pick” and automatically thinks they are going to be guns and play 200 games but that is fair from the truth. There are first round picks and low first round picks where you can get access to players that have real impact on the competition.

I don’t believe trading Oliver/trac or petty should be traded. You’re risking the chance of getting a pick that wouldn’t even good enough to lace their boots.

Understanding the new footy trends and style of success that we need trade in and draft is the key to the off season.
Skill and speed and ball moving with a less focus of numbers at contest and time in forward half .

I'm sorry but that's bullshit. I responded to your original post above and made multiple counter points. If anything you then cherry picked your response to me to discuss the defenders and nothing else.

You're nothing but a troll.

You mentioned Petty out of like 10 blokes I mentioned. You are just arguing for the sake of it.

Edit: Just re read you want to keep Fritsch and Rivers to. Well I don’t, both have gone backwards since our flag. Fritsch is as lazy as it gets and struggles to put together 5 disposals or take uncontested chest marks. Soft as butter. Rivers has lost his role with Lindsay and Windsor coming in and is in no mans land being shoe horned into the team. He isn’t a mid and his defender role has been taken because our recruiters are obsessed with defenders.
