I think the most important thing we have learnt is that 'nothing that happens in March matters'. It's still the pre-season, teams are figuring stuff out, the young guys are excitable and totally up and down...

This time last year, Gold Coast were undefeated and looking like finals contenders, Essendon had just soundly beaten Hawthorn, and Brisbane were 0-3.

Learnt -

Adelaide have joined GWS and Hawthorn on the "must watch" teams list.
Freo need to wake up if they want to be the team I predicted them to be (contenders). Something just hasn't clicked in the Longmuir era. Going to be hard to make the 8 now.
Sam Darcy is going to be the most feared forward for a good while.

Liked -

I mean it's obvious.
But also fellow recent straggler West Coast being competitive was great to see.

Hated -

The umpires rubbery 15m ruler. It's going to cost teams games. AFL should be looking to quell the umpires influence on a game not exacerbate it.

Leg up???? 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Finishing last for years will give you high picks. That’s called the draft! We were in the freaking vortex for a long time and been shit for longer. Hope we can start to climb up now.
You got free picks from afl house for just being sh1t... not because you placed last. That's the leg up. Even west coast has been sh1t and not been given a leg up.

Saints win very nice.

Enjoyed watching North Melbourne pull Melbourne Demons pants down and bend them over the table and slap them and call them names, weak pricks. Such a shame it was relegated to Sunday arvo while junk Carlton get prime-time slots, I hope a few North fans took an RDO on Monday.

Yes, those "free picks" that we were forced to trade for players.

Players that ended up being Fisher, Tucker, Logue and Stephens.

Fisher and Logue didn't play yesterday. Tucker was lucky to get a game after being sub last week and Stephens lucky to be the sub this week.

So much for a "leg up"!

Hated: Geelong never learn, they can't play the Saints no matter where they are on the ladder! This was a predictable result.
You did beat them in a GF though at least

Liked: Not much! Didn't see the game, horrified at the result, i'm glad i went to a gig.

Learnt: You can just about draw a line through Carlton, Essendon, Geelong, Melbounre, West Coast, Richmond, with Fremantle, Sydney, St.Kilda, Bulldogs hanging on by a thread. North have gone past all of them...

Hated: Geelong never learn, they can't play the Saints no matter where they are on the ladder! This was a predictable result.
That's a pretty big statement on the back of 1 win.

Mr Darcy! Mr Samuel Darcy of the Footscray Football Club.

Though I fear ‘like’ will barely suffice in conveying my feelings for Mr Darcy. Who displays many qualities admirable in a gentleman, most notably an exquisite amalgamation of elevated stature, graceful mobility and enduring fortitude. He possesses a mature disposition and judgement, indeed a most uncanny judgment of ball in flight. Most endearingly Mr Darcy expresses great delight in the shared triumphs of his fellow gentlemen of the Footscray Club, dispensing with great heart caresses upon their crowns and backsides when a goal is kicked.

Hated

‘Hated’ is a word excessively potent for a lady to utter. Yet I confess to a mild disdain for the ungentlemanly conduct of Mr Harley Reid. Mr Reid who, upon attaining his majority found himself the object of considerable admiration, now imperils this esteemed stature amongst his peers. By allowing his attention on the match to wane and succumbing instead to the mocking utterances of the throng, notably on Sunday last in responding to a particular savage native to Brisbane Town. Mr Reid, I earnestly beseech you to DO BETTER! (Alas, here I find myself regrettably enmeshed in the coarseness of the modern vernacular - Forgive Me)

“No Man’s Land”, I fear, is transforming into a most disquieting domain, thronged with ever more myriad factions. Originally a place of permanent abode for AFLW, a most considerable number of groups from the colony of Victoria are also making arrangements to take up residence there. These comprise gentlemen from the clubs of St Kilda, Essendon and now, if I may be so audacious to prophesy, Carlton and Melbourne. Shall it be the fate of all said parties to find themselves at length in that dismal realm, bereft of all purpose and direction?

Crow's attacking style, magnificent. They do leak a bit though, I suppose that goes with the territory. I hope they keep their vivacity through both easy and tough times.

North's terrif display. While they haven't arrived, the train has definitely left the station, charging ahead on all cylinders.

The "no 15" calls. At least the refereefers can do something right.

Saints and RTB. Just when you're about to stick the fork in, it jumps out of the oven and bounds around the back yard full of life.

Hated
Nothing.

There are 6 or so teams looking likely, I think this will be a great season of slick tough footy with plenty of ups and downs.

I do wonder if the Crows had won say 100 to Essendon's 60 what the commentary would be. Probably something like a dominant 40 point win. Yet they win by more and are questioned.

A new author each week. I, for one, can't wait for the Tolkien entry where he takes 20 pages to describe the second quarter performance by us.

Footy media is mostly not worth listening to. Crows are flying, it's plain to see. if their strategy is to blow teams away, how good is that. No doubt they'll come against stiffer oppo, and if they keep their mindset, watch out. My mob versus yours could be fun.

How did Dewar not get rising star nod 2 goals and 20 disposals. Some Geelong no namer gets 15 disposals is better story for the league. Wouldn’t want a good story coming out from the eagles I guess.
