Eh, I get why we committed to it, as it was way too late to change it up, but the clock struck midnight on a flawed setup and ideology.

Also, losing McGovern and Greenwood* were big, seeing it was their inclusions which kick started Adelaide season in the back end plus the structure only really worked with McGovern as a third tall, seeing it was a team that ironically lacked an aerial threat which he rectified to a degree. Greenwood as well was a real 'ahead of the time' inclusion with hindsight, seeing putting a defensive shitwreckers in the middle, even with middling offensive ability has become the go-to method to generate a spike in performance as the year wears on.
Greenwood played did he not ??

Another one was playing hurt mind you. Smith was a loss as well.

nice post. yes mc governs athleticism to otten's lack of did stand out unfortunately and it didnt take Einstein to work out it was a likely outcome.

Sloane had a pretty bad day I thought and his direct opponent (was it Baker?) kicked 3 on him, although kicked a couple himself inc the games first. Douglas useless. Ditto Mackay, Atkins and Knight. EDIT Jack Graham kicked 3 on Sloane in his 5th game of AFL footy..

Our team is MUCH better even now in terms of the 'bottom 5-7' players in our current team as they are all AFL level B grade types like Cumming, Keane, ANB, Keays, Sholl, Peatling (hopefully can push higher) plus youngsters still 2-3 years away from hopefully elite level in Curtin and Draper and expecting Max to keep improving further.

true re Smith. He has had a great year and sad for a great clubman to be cruelly injured in the first final. hopefully he leaves at the end of this year with legacy intact as he has played a lot of fantastic footy for us until a year or 2 back and we cant blame him for trying to maximise his own career longevity. One of Reidys mistakes obviously but thankfully relatively minor when you see some of the other disasters out there (injury plagued Darcy having a contract until ends of 2030 when they dont even need him!)

ps Greenwood did play and kicked a goal first qtr

Just bought 10 raffle tickets to support the Footy club my son plays at.

Community Footy Raffle supported by Port.

The $5 Raffle ticket includes a two game membership for Port. Can't use for Showdown though and one of the games is the WCE game round 18.

Good way to inflate the membership number.

Also another reason why the membership number is meaningless.

Essendon 60 plus thousand members, half empty MCG last weekend. With plenty of Crow supporters.

Imagine their membership count if they gave them away to every supporter than had an AVO out against them.

Does anyone actually care about membership numbers though?
It's hardly a legitimate source of banter among footy fans.

I don't go up to my Bombers fans mates and say "ha ha haa we have 8,000 more members than you"
I go up to them and remind them of their finals win drought and how we mugged them in broad daylight on Saturday.

Young guns ruled out of Dons' clash with Power

Essendon will have to bounce back against Port Adelaide without important youngsters Elijah Tsatas and Archie Perkins, who will both miss the clash through injury.
And ball magnet Darcy Parish will not be able to replace them with the ball magnet to play VFL minutes on his return from a sore back.
Tsatas broke his finger in the warmup before the Adelaide game and will require surgery with the Bombers unsure of his timeline.
He still managed 25 disposals with the injury but has been ruled out of the Power clash.
Perkins has a quad complaint.
Experienced defender Jordan Ridley will be available to return from concussion on Thursday night as the Dons look to recover from a 60-point loss to Adelaide.

I'm not judging on that really

Voss has more recently made and won a final. Goodwin has been putrid for over a year now

Both not going well

Carltons last 11 games

2W 9L
The 2 wins were against North Melbourne and West Coast

Melbournes last 11 games

3W 8L
The 3 wins against West Coast, Essendon & Gold Coast

We were pretty lucky with no Langford, Parish or Ridley so can't complain too much.

We also faced Saints with a couple of injuries.

If it was Merrett and Martin missing, sure, but Perkins and Tsatas are very average so I don't think Essendon are missing much. Plus they get Ridley back.

Unfortunate news about Lukosious but with the intent he's shown so far he's likely not all that upset.

Perkins is as soft as Luko, cancel each other out.
Tsatas is a turnover merchant, no loss there.
Ridley’s return makes their defence significantly better.

Not so much about banter, but the AFL use it as a KPI and celebrate high numbers.

So they let clubs do whatever they want to boost that number.

Not sure the AFL will let him carry a gun during games so he can feel better...
