I keep Fox/Kayo on mostly for the overseas cricket test series and for the ODI/T20 games that Ch7 don't cover here

They have lost the rights to the World Cups, if they lose the rights to the Sri Lankan series I might have to rethink it.

It's not about losing the Sri Lanka series, it's about them not wanting to stump up the cash for it. They could get it any time they want but aren't - yet.

I'm hoping it's just posturing by both parties here - Fox not wanting to pay the Sri Lankan boards asking price and holding out until they reduce it, and the SLB holding out hoping Fox raise the offer.

The later it gets the more concerning, though, considering they'll have to fly a crew over etc. and we're only 12 days out from the first test.

Apparently neither company have picked up the rights for the Sri Lanka tour and we won’t have any where to watch it but listening to it via abc
I’ve switched over to SEN for my radio coverage, just cant have Jim anymore.

Another offtube commentary mishap on Fox with WAshes. For the 1st wicket, England reviewed but it wasn’t captured by the camera so Fox thought they opted out of the review until 7’s graphics rolled out ‘decision reviewed’

During the review, 7 noted that Litchfield was walking has she knew that she had nicked it but Fox couldn’t offer that insight as they aren’t at the ground.

Ridiculous that a team with the current batting credentials Sri Lanka have and the home bowling credentials they boast are not deemed worthy of some tv coverage by a broadcaster that actually has its own cricket channel.
Australians have a bit of a condition where "if you don't do it here then we don't rate it" which is a very narrow view of cricket, or sport broadly and beyond.

I think the win in Sydney for us was actually huge in respect to the WTC as needing to go to Sri Lanka and ensure a result would not have been an easy task. In the last 5 tests Australia have played in Sri Lanka it's a comfortable 5-1 to Sri Lanka, including a 3-0 whitewash series.

The problem Sri Lanka have is they aren't great tourists. I think given their conditions are just so different from everywhere it's hard for them to adapt, but at home they're every chance of knocking us off 2-0. I think this is a hot series so I really hope Fox pick it up.

The lack of pace bowling class through their history has made things incredibly difficult for them. Doesn’t give their batsmen much exposure to it, and doesn’t give them much to work with when they travel.

The inverse of us and playing spin, hence why they're a chance to skittle us there. Particularly the 2nd test given both are at the same venue. Wouldn't be shocked if they did a Pakistan and re-used the same pitch to double down on the ragging.

If they’re smart they shouldn’t need to as it probably just makes it more of a lottery when they already have a better spin attack anyway and a much better batting line up for the conditions if they are just ‘normal’ Sri Lankan conditions anyway but who knows

Australia only cares about cricket vs England and one other team. At the moment it is India. Fox know that it won't get many eyeballs so they are holding out for a bargain basement price.

The funny part is they’ve won a series in SA which India is yet to do.

Sri Lanka at times have been quite decent in both England and Nz. It’s just when they tour Australia they are absolutely useless.

I reckon the tours are generally lost even before they touch down in Aus as a lot of it is also mental.

I think part of that is that those countries do throw up some conditions where you can be 135 or lower, and 6 foot or shorter, and be a handful.

It’s only recently that Australia has sporadically (this summer in particular) begun to produce more and more of those pitches as opposed to the ones that needed the real pound the deck, 140+ types or 6’3+ guys

Which makes them winning in SA even funnier as its more like Aussie conditions

They can be, they can throw up the odd England/NZ game though.

That series they won saw only one score higher than 260 of the 8 innings completed; the memorable chase with Kusal Perera’s freakish innings (though oddly it was Lasith Embuldenya who was the only Lankan bowler who bagged a five-fer in that match)

The second test was a shoot out.

WOW!!!

1st non Ashes overseas tour on FTA in a LONG TIME!

How did Fox miss out on this? They aired the SL T10 tour but not the Aussies tour? I guess they tried to get it as cheap as possible & 7 pounced.

Excellent news.

I reckon it's the first (non Ashes or WTC final) overseas tour since South Africa in 1997.
