Also relative to the pick 3 is JB a bust convo.

history of Pick 3's for relativity.
2013 - JB
2014 - Angus Brayshaw
2015 - Callum Mills (Academy) Pick 4 Clayton Oliver
2016 - Hugh McCluggage
2017 - Paddy Dow
2018 - Izak Rankin
2019 - Luke Jackson

From that list it would be hard pressed to argue that JB and Paddy Dow haven't had the smallest impact on their team and league. Does that make them a bust? depends on your definition I guess - but I think it would be hard to argue that JB has had the same relative impact as any of the others.
The recruiting teams can only go by a body of performances in a junior competition…no guarantees that will translate to senior football

He's played better football as a wingman than half forward.

People are pretty happy with Mason Woods 2023, Billings 2018, 2019 are arguably better, but people want to move him on for peanuts cause they're bored.

2018
2019
I've seen this a couple of times from different posters. It's laughable.

Posters like me want Billings gone for a number of reasons, none of which are that I'm bored.

He has had 10 whole years to become a star or even a lock in the 22. He has not done either.

You can say he's been injured, but face it, even without the injuries he would have a similar profile to someone like Seb Ross, a Good Ordinary Player.

At vital moments he has let us down, he disappears regularly from games, he is no leader and seemingly has no drive to ever improve.

The fact that he and players like him have stayed so long in the team, speaks of the lack of competition for places in the side, not his quality. If we'd been one of those clubs getting top 5 dps up the wahoo, he would have been shunted out long ago, or at least had the ONUS on him to improve.

He's been stagnating comfortably for years and we should have traded him 5 years ago when we could have fooled someone that he was worth big money.

I'm happy for him if he does make it at another team, but we cannot wait forever in hope and we need to move on. Why now? Because we can't go back in time. The list needs to know that this is no longer the Comfort Club.

You are a yappy little dog with a Billings sized bone, give it a rest. We get it, not good enough in your opinion.
Apologies Mick.
Here I was thinking that discussing a player up for trade, in the trade thread forum was appropriate.
I guess I’ll work through the other 1000 pages of 2023 trade contributions to get a better read on applicable content.

The two worst clubs to deal with are Essendon and Freo. Why do we always seem to end up dealing with these pricks? I know in reality we don't but it would be nice to deal with a common sense club for once.

They stuff you around that much that you can't do any other trades because their deals typically go through late. Our list guys don't know our ultimate draft hand until everyone else is home and in bed.

If we take Shield it should be as a salary dump with nothing going to back ess and they would need to add a decent sweetener.

He's so broken down that it would be a salary dump. He's unlikely to play next year if Lyon expected players returning from injury to do a preseason before getting a game and wanting some VFL form to go off. He also likes to play the same players rather than swing changes. If we paid anything for him we'd be insane. He should be one that comes with a pick.

If you play 5-6 good seasons then the talent is there. If we can't get the best out of players we might as fold.

If we can get a good player in return or his body is shot then sure move him on, but dumping players like that for a junk pick is just terrible list management, you need 30 decent player to challenge.

Brad Hill didn't make our top 10 in 2020 either, Butler finshed 2nd… only three from that year were top 10 this years…wings and roundabouts.

1. Jack Steele (207)
2. Dan Butler (126)
3. Dougal Howard (122)

4. Rowan Marshall (120)
5. Nick Coffield (119)
6. Zak Jones (117)

7. Callum Wilkie (113)
8. Paddy Ryder (107)
9. Hunter Clark (100)
10. Sebastian Ross (92)
Of the players bolded, Howard’s value assessed, coff gone, Jones 1 year deal and Clark in no man’s land.

Doesn’t that alone show that competition for list spots and best 22 is at a premium.

More than happy to agree to disagree with people and do so respectfully.

Final comment.
If you went to your boss and asked for a pay increase because of the way you worked in 2019 I think we all know the response we’d get.

Offered two years. He's staying.
Remember when Lenny Hayes was interviewed after it was announced that he'd be coming back to the club as assistant, he said the thing he was most looking forward to doing was working with Hunter Clark.

Wonder what he thinks of him now.

Bit of hysterical tantrum about this one mate 😂

Seb Ross has been our best player over the past decade, a good ordinary player maybe but the unfortunate truth. You want Billings gone because he’s not better than our best player?

Why does he need to be a star or a leader? He didn’t choose his draft position.

He barely missed a game in 6 years before injuries so has absolutely been a lock for our 22, so that's absolute BS.

Max King lets us down and goes missing, actually every player on our list does that.

Why do you assume that he’s coasting and laziness is the reason behind his lack of recent appearances? Seems like completely unsubstantiated jock mentality to pot a bloke who has wrecked his body slugging his guts out, who says he has no drive to ever improve?

Only with hindsight you can write off the last 2 years with injury. If we clear out talented players every time they get a bad run with injuries and get SFA in return we're spiraling downhill.

None of your post holds water.

If a fit Billings is fringe or outside of our best 22 then we're going pretty well. Losing him for a junk pick or salary cap space that we don't even need is utterly pointless.

The rest of the your jibes on his attitude or level of commitment are hot garbage.

I know in late to the party but I require the McStay video for research purposes. Thanks in advance
Honestly mate.

It’s a max 10 second video and the best part of it is how she impressively positions herself

Clearly things are getting complicated with this Gresh situation.
Either because Dodoro is ticking off the deals one by one (1 deal completed on each of the two days so far).
Or, there is a problem.
As Essendon are the market maker, you’d have to assume it’s at their end.
Which leads me to this question: what happens to Gresh if Essendon walk away without tabling a deal?
He’s still a FA.
Just doesn’t have a contract.
