I really do believe we can win at least 3 of the next 5 (MELB, NMFC, GEEL, GCFC, CARL). If we're lucky maybe a bit more if we can continue the amount of pressure we've been delivering.

1) I really think Aish had his last chance today (he should have anyway). Some really stupid decisions that proved costly against us.
2) We really need to get a key forward to kick to. So many chances that either just missed their target or went straight back to the Swans. Hopefully we can sign Dixon in the off season. McStay is still in the early stages of his career and Staker isn't having as much of an impact as we need him too
3) Our defense is starting to take shape with the experience of Merrett and our younger players gaining valuable expereience.

Anyway I think our team should start rolling in a few wins in the following weeks, but I hope our effort isn't all for nothing.

A few missed opportunities and Buddy Franklin the only difference in the end. Can't complain. Go ahead if you want to, but really...

Our midfield isn't bad at all when we get everyone out there either.

Yeah nah. Paparone made a couple of mistakes, but he got a fair amount of the ball after struggling with forward tags over the last couple of weeks.
I'm pretty confident that he'll make it, personally. He's been our most improved player this year by far.

Only Martin and Robinson missing from a fully fit midfield. First time Beams, Rocky, Hanley, Rich, Redden, Christensen & Zorko have played in the same team.

Only took 'til round 15

Feeling great after being at the Gabba and witnessing us match it with Sydney (after doing it against Freo and Adelaide).

Can't be too disappointed with the loss. I thought we should've won it too - a bit wasteful in front of the goals ... but, I was also astonished at how HTB was paid tonight. It seemed to only go one way, and on more than one occasion it lead to a goal because we didn't turn around quick enough.

2nd quarter was poor but the overall night we kept up our effort and as theme of the past 2 weeks, fell away in the last.

Beams didn't slow down with Rocky & Hanley in there, which was good to see.

Rocky with 11 tackles is just huge and a massive night from the Zorks!

Merrett really kept the margin close by himself in the last quarter.

Not enough in my opinion from guys like Adcock, Bewick, McStay & Taylor tonight.

Overall, our boys put up another fight but fell short and I believe against a poorer opposition - we might get the chocolates!

Go Lions!
personally loved Adcocks work ethic and effort to contest for the ball, as for Mcstay, a very poor game on his behalf

I thought the effort was high throughout the game. Not happy that now 3 weeks in a row we have conceded a goal within the first 30 secs of the last quarter. Also, we need to look at our game plan when we put 15 players near/around the ball, and then when we get the ball out of congestion, we run around in circles as we have no one to kick to.

I thought Clarke looked great tonight... Showed pace, confidence, etc... What a difference Merrett makes to the backline.

Christensen was immense in the second half.

Again thought Staker showed a bit tonight. Definitely in our 22 atm.

Robertson a bit rusty.

Our midfield looked great tonight. There were a couple of patches where Sydney's midfiled took a hold.... But generally very good.

I think we play better with Luey as the main ruck. Just seems to work. Clarke has become one of our better players, solid performance again. Beams all class. How good was Merrett, adds some grunt to our side. Defence looked really good till Gardiner went down.

From about the 5 minute mark of the last qrt it looked like it would take a mighty effort to kick a winning score.

Its tough when we expend so much energy for so little reward. Sydney's plan of kick it to buddy until he takes a mark/gets a free worked out in the end but won't stand up against the cream of the competition.

Its been a good three weeks of footy from our boys up against prime opposition. Loving how we're developing. A few blokes out there today will be all the better for their run in the seniors (i.e. Merrett). Think we can build into some consistency and finish off the year well from here.

Good effort.
Enjoyed Zorko's run. Really feel he's the barometer for the team. Missed Green forward.
Robertson's decision-making is very poor. Cringeworthy run-downs. Shouldn't be starting.

Agree Elixuh, but I would really like to see us build consistency at the START of the year for a change....you know, just to be a bit radical and different.

.....but of course the footy gods have to agree to this new idea.

Feel like a bit of a broken record but surely time for Aish to have a spell in the 2's. For whatever reason (contract issue, 2nd year blues, simply not good enough, fatigue from royal duties etc) he just isn't up to scratch and someone like a Dawson or Cutler needs to be given a run of games off half back given they are dominating in the 2's.

Also, WTF with the holding the ball decisions against us? Have I missed some rule change?

Overall, another good solid effort against strong opposition, but jeez we need a Key forward.

Not to excuse his disposal errors but a couple of those run downs came when he literally had nothing to kick to.

The knock on effect of Merrett's inclusion was significant. Clarke got to take a player further afield, Andrews didn't have to take a key forward and Paparone effectively played as a small. All played better as a result.

Had an immediate impact. Whole backline looked far more settled.

Can't really fault our effort, although i love how people are quick to slam on aish, even though robertson had a complete shocker and was easily worst on ground for us.
