A post-op infection that is left to fester to the point of causing permanent damage to a substantial amount of the surrounding tissue. Either Beau was keeping very quiet about a hell of a lot of pain or someone should be sacked.

Where does it say that it was "left to fester"? When it got infected the undid some of the reconstruction and he's been hopefull of playing this season before having it tightened up again at years end. Unfortunately it popped out at training, signifying that it won't sustain an AFL match.

Should have got the surgery a long long time ago, this was always going to happen. Poor management IMO.

He'll be back next year.

He had the op in the off season, but it got infected (which isn't that uncommon). It would have definately wiped out the first half of the seaon for him if he was to have had another op straight away.

Might not have a choice, it's the last year of his contract isn't it? The club may pull him aside and then we'll have a situation a la Nico.
Reports saying the club have begged him to not retire.

Disappointing news.

I cant help but feel this has been very poorly managed by the club but life goes on. Hopefully we learn from it.

sad news- when he was up he was really good, tough, courageous which is what we need, cant see him going on next year, sort of like Nikoski, just cant get his body right, hopefully he stays around the club in some form because he is a great leader.

Look at Brown for Collingwood. His shoulder popped out last week but he plans to go on and not have an op. It happens all the time.

Just bad luck that the infection happened to begin with and that it popped out at training again.
