Gee, Moller and Hannath 11 touches between them.

With Forster also seemingly being a passenger, you can sort of see why Peel get pissed off when we do shit like pull Crichton out halfway through the 2nd quarter. It's not like we're entirely bringing elite quality to the table.

When Mellington, Schloithe, SUtcliffe, Simpson, Duffy etc transfer we will.

Good to see those numbers from Mello and the Sloth, although Sloth was playing against Peel so hard to know how he would go against tougher opposition.

Also good to see Jesse have a good game, undone to an extent because he has been reported (though it was for belting Hams, so at least he has learned to target a W-egirls scumbag).

Duffy is injured, reported as having a strained hamstring - not a god 2013 for him, hope he can stick at it in 2014...

Howson is the most exciting of the lot though, very hopeful that he can build on it and get a few more good first grade games in this year. Having him and Ma-Ta in the Peel forward line will make them a much more dangerous side...

Reckon he could still reel in Taberner in terms of development.

He's starting from a long way back but 19 disposals and two goals is a ripper start at wafl level. Always thought it'd be the aim to graduate from reserves to league this year for him, while next year it'll be a case of staying there and third year starting to dominate. Time will tell whether hell get there but positive signs.

Cheers. Any idea why Faulks didn't play?

Extremely happy that Howson has got two thus far in his first proper WAFL game. :)

No Michie = No Peel

No Michie + No Crozier + No Sheridan = No Peel. Kind of hard when you lose Michie + Crozier same wk for even the best of wafl sides

Off the cuff comment? He has been getting those numbers or better in most games against the better sides. Averaging 25 poss and 5 tackles a game over the last 5-6 games.

How can you say Howson is the most exciting? Just on stats, Mello should of had at least one AFL game
this year, will be gutted when he is playing well for another team. Schloithe is another who are too good for
WAFL, both would get games for the eagles.
Both of them are kicking goals playing as mid/forwards, our one weakness is not kicking enough goals
against quality teams, Mello could help in this area, if given the chance.

I must admit I don't quite get this. To me he is competing with Ballantyne, Walters, Mayne and de Boer. The only one he could realistically replace there and improve our scoring is de Boer, who has a specialist role as a defensive forward. I am not saying he can't displace de Boer, or any of the others, but would be a significant call to do that.

In terms of a purer midfield role, I can't see any reason why we would prefer him to the rotation of young guns we have had this season, and especially Neale who is slotting a few on a regular basis and has good goal sense.

I agree it's the deboer role that could be tested out with another player ( in theory ) , but in reality would RTB really be thinking of testing out untried role changes when his hand isn't being forced ?
I feel for Mello, he showed a lot in that HFF role before ripping his hammy away from his leg - not sure he's shown enough defensive effort at wafl level ( but seen he has played HBF at times to educate hime on aspects of the role ) to replace deboer this year.

I reckon he's a smoky to replace Balla's this weekend though, I'm just hoping it doesn't go to a mid to rotate through ( i.e subcliffe ) . We don't have marking power with sandi out and I reckon we need a natural forward to make the most of what may be more limited opportunities in our Fwd 50

That's why I reckon Crozier .

Based on what?

Intuition :p I think once he has the upper body development he will have just as many tools for getting the ball if not more (He is very fast, only slightly smaller, also has good endurance). One the slight problems I see with Taberner at the moment is that whilst he has the tools to get the ball around the half forward line his kicking range is not that great (past 45m he looks to pass it). Just watch Pavlich this weekend and you will notice that even with an old body he is still within range at or just outside of 50. Taberner needs to get the ball deep in the fifty - for whatever reason he isn't doing that at the moment. Howson seems to be getting the ball in the right positions (albeit it is hard to tell as he has only just started at senior level) - his bags of goals and/or scoring shots at the reserves level suggest he is getting to the right position more often. He also has a booming kick, so his range for goal kicking is larger.

Lets plonk Taberner in the reserves and watch him carve it up ;)

You've seen him play? Face it what you say may end up proving true, but you have absolutely no evidence that it will be. He has played one league game. I haven't seen him play either so I won't make any call's on him, but I'd suggest a rookie draftee who can't break a league team game till the end of the season stands a greater chance of being delisted than passing a fellow rookie who has not only played league, and dominated a few games in a poor team, but has been upgraded and played AFL (a minor miracle for a 19 year old key forward out of amatures). I agree Tabernar's kicking has poor penatration, but hell so have many champion forwards. It hasn't stopped Mayne reaching All Australian consideration.
