Switched off so early in the SF that he went from easily winning to coming 3rd and only qualifying on time (instead of coming in the top 2)What has he done?
Diversity quota/gender balanceI still don't understand why Lisa Sthalekar is on this show. She's a cricketer, so she's not providing 'expert analysis', she's not funny, she's not particularly charismatic...

Well yeah... but they couldn't find an ex-olympian to fill that role? It's just a weird pick.Diversity quota/gender balance
10th, although most ahead of us by that metric are much smaller countries with 3 or 4 'elite' athletes who win goldJudging by the population of the counties around us in the medal tally, we’d have to have one of the highest elite athlete to commoner ratios in the world
Don’t watch tomorrow night then! HahaI never want to hear the words "penalty corner" ever again.
Sthlaker has the added benefit of already being employed by Channel 7Well yeah... but they couldn't find an ex-olympian to fill that role? It's just a weird pick.
That’s surprising, thought we’d be top 5 at least. Fat campaigners
Those 1-2 million countries snagging a gold or two does skew the figures somewhatPlenty of tiny country who have snagged a medal or 2. Also NZ go alright.
If you get a small country that has a tradition of participating in a more 'niche' sport (like Kosovo with Judo, or Fiji with Rugby 7s), they'll always do well by that metric. That’s surprising, thought we’d be top 5 at least. Fat campaigners

Still a great stats page regardless. If you get a small country that has a tradition of participating in a more 'niche' sport (like Kosovo with Judo, or Fiji with Rugby 7s), they'll always do well by that metric.
IMO Slovenia is probably the country that surprises most at having elite athletes in more popular sports, having Tadej Pogacar in cycling (although he didn't win gold in Toyko, he did just win the TdF) and Luca Doncic in basketball
I know Maher with his bloke-isms can butcher the English language but her ‘incremental increases’ in describing athlete’s doing PBs was a new low even for a show that has gazie as it’s funny man.Sthlaker has the added benefit of already being employed by Channel 7
also stood at the introduction thing when walking into the stadium flexing and carrying on like a complete toolSwitched off so early in the SF that he went from easily winning to coming 3rd and only qualifying on time (instead of coming in the top 2)
Not the worst case of over-confidence this week (that goes to Sherricka Jackson), but it did piss some people off
I've been glued to Germany vs Japan in the table tennis. If you are still keen to watch something, I recommend you tune in to Brasil vs Russia in the volleyball.
sthlaker has more right to commentate on elite athletes competing than maher has. She at least has some understanding of what it takes to be an athlete at the highest level.I know Maher with his bloke-isms can butcher the English language but her ‘incremental increases’ in describing athlete’s doing PBs was a new low even for a show that has gazie as it’s funny man.
Inexplicable decision in the Argentina-India Hockey match. Argie challenged a decision, replay showed clearly the Argie player had not discarded the protective equipment and thus the ref's decision was correct, yet somehow, review ref found a way to over-rule the short corner decision for India. Suspicious to say the least.
