Silly Season - Whispers

Agree with most of what you say there, Reece began very well last season, then went of the boil, probably the disco nuggets and DJing are more his scene. But it was pretty common knowledge that come even Round 6 he was leaving.

I also agree that Yarra Pig-Pen will be the team to beat. Seem to of, to this point in time, held onto most of their list from last year which will hold them in good stead, bar the seagull Rusty Cowan whose gone to Mt Ev. Hellgrave do have some handy players coming in, like the Collins' boys, but the reality of it is, the depth is questionable from their existing list. Motor mouth Mitch Collins surely will kick a ton, but apart from Stubley, I struggle to see any real depth. They will play finals in my opinion, but I have them still behind YG and Seville. Losing Dadswell is far from a step in the right direction too.

Where's Junctions $30,000 going? Coach? Players? Facilities? TAB?

Plenty been spoken about Wandin, Seville, and a couple of others, but the silence is deafening from the following clubs. Anyone want to share some mail from: ANY team over the Spur, Junction, Powelly, Warby, Monbulk, Upwey? All seems a bit quiet on the news side from them.

So, 7 weeks out from the season kick off, what's happening on the Praccy match front? Who's playing who? When? Strong line-up? Playing kids?

Let's get this forum up and firing again like it was last season!

Dont think the boys have had the big preseason start like the last few years with 40 or 50 on the track each night but will still be a top 4 side. Maybe 4 or 5 good players gone from the seinors last year, but there will be a few young guns from premiership 18s side last year that will be keen to fill their spots and depth to come in from an undefeated 2s side. Shores younger brother Darcy and Oddonell are at ranges at the minute, hopefully they make it but if not that will slot straight into the senior team.

I think yarra glen will be the the team to beat and the competition will even out a bit unlike last year when it was a 2 horse race. Belgrave would have had to recruit more than just a few stars to consider themselves a real contender, they were a long way off it last year.

Fair points wellconnected. Have to remember that emerald and seville were winning most games last year by 10-15 goals. The blues have been right up there the last 3 years under mark holy they would have to lose more than half a dozen players to drop out of contention.

Does anyone know if troyan is gonna go around again? Shame such a talented player has missed so many games in recent years with injury. Would have liked to see him go out on top.

Motor mouth Mitch Collins? I know his brother rather well and have met Mitch a few times and his far from a motor mouth. I would go as far as saying his nothing like most power forwards, his very modest. He will rip div 2 apart. I watched him play for Mulgrave twice last year and he killed his opponent on both occasions, Div 1 Eastern is by far, way ahead of YVMDFL div 2. Look out for him!

As for the depth issue at Belgrave, after talking to Ben Collins he is confident that both there seniors and Reserves will improve dramatically, They have picked up a total of 9 senior players and another 5 more that will be close to senior selection. (Not sure how that will work with the points system) apparently they have picked up a couple of really good players from East Ringwood but not sure of there names and have also got Duffy who is a former Beaconsfield premiership player and gun midfielder.

As for Seville, from what i saw last year they will be around the mark for sure but rumour is they have lost there 2 best mid fielders, if thats the case they will have to replace them but with there juniors and reserves being so strong you would think some kids could come in to take there place.

Not really sure about Yarra Glen but i know most on here have big wraps on them so they will probably be around the mark. Should be a belter round one against Belgrave

I think the one to look out for would have to be Alexandra, going off there clearance list, no one has left and they have had a few come in. They were fairly strong last year so if they add they are only going to get stronger. (can any one elaborate more on Alex)

All in all i think Div 2 will be a lot more even and closer this year but my early predictions are these 4 sides in the top 4 then not sure after that.

Alexandra
Yarra Glen
Belgrave
Seville

I was told he resigned due to personal reasons. The reasons sounded legitimate but with all the talk about disgruntled players im sure people will draw their own conclusions.

Personal, work and injury problems, nothing else.
He will remain at club as a player and help out new coach when possible.
Nothing sinister, a ripper bloke who has done a lot for Seville.

Heard that it was far from amicable and that there is a strong chance that he will return to his former club in mt.evelyn in a possible assistant playing role! Tipping with all the departures he would be well received back there, even if he did try and poach half of their team when he left!

Mark Holly.... He must of turned into a superstar some how back in 2nd Division without anyone knowing. Just a player and I think Seville would have coached themselves to bridesmaid specialists. Good choice getting out now with an aging list and a club that has spent money to attract the players to win it with no luck. If he's to injured to hide in a 2nd Division game as coach he may aswell hang his boots up!

Big Matty t has left monbulk due to family and work commitments his family has moved to casterton. Bit far to commute to training so I suppose your right there. The big fella was one of the best trainers in the club and a quality unit and I'm sure will be sorely missed left amicably and hopefully will be welcomed back in a few years time after he finishes an apprenticeship. Hope that clears your little rumour up buddy

l see Seville's new choice of coach may be former FTGully coach Brent King, interesting choice after the shenanigans that went on during a finals campain at FTG last year.

King is moving around.
He resigned as FTG coach near the end of last season after a blue with Sth Belly spectators but coached them the next week and looked like doing it this year. After the season he took the job at Sth Croydon as Ressies coach. Resigned suddenly last month and Sth Croydon not happy.
Maybe Seville had been planning Hollys going for a while and sounded King out.

See Tyson Wheeler is out for the season will Wandin still pursue the clearance?

have heard alex is some trouble losing most of their midfielders! have picked up a couple from thornton who didnt play last year but without a solid midfield they wont be much chop predicting a 4th or 5th place finish if they can keep 2 of their good midfielders. also yea and kinglake look like not fieliding under 18 teams
