Yze won't last long unfortunately. Tigers are in for a world of pain. Hardwick did a number on them for sure. Everyone could see that cliff coming, but he overspent on average players to try and be competitive. Now their list is genuinely screwed. They haven't hit bottom yet either. I can't see Yze lasting through the rebuild. I'm not sure any other coach would do better though..more than happy to see Richmond down the bottom tbh.

Yze’s been trashed by injuries but the worry is the lack of effort and standards in the past two weeks. ****ing wild that they beat Sydney. We were shit against them and still managed an easy 40 point win.

Similarly, St Kilda completely lack talent but at least you could say that their effort is there.

Also looking forward to Dees v Saints next week…

Yeah the injury excuse wears thin with the margins they are getting flogged by, already lost the players imo. He was passed over plenty of times by teams before this year whilst being an assistant for successful clubs, Brendan Bolton and Mark Neeld were the same. More likely hes just a shit coach than anything.

I remember when we were getting thrashed in Bailey’s early games in 2008 and you could apply certain contexts such as injuries, lack of experience, learning a new game plan etc. However, the reality was that you could only speculate whether any other coach could do any better; it was doubtful anyone else could do any worse.

Dean Bailey would have made an amazing ball movement coach in this era. Didn't have the players full respect but he could coach an attack
I liked him as a bloke. Was quite a good speaker when he stopped saying competitive every 3 seconds. There was a whole lot of Melbourning shit going at club level that cost him dearly. But all that said, getting pumped week in week out, finishing last and only winning 3 games in his first season meant it was a long way back.

Agree he would’ve likely been an excellent assistant.

Speaking of coaches under the pump. How long until they come for Clarkson at North? List is a mess albeit with some good young talent. But, one win in thirty odd games which is remarkably worse than the Shaw/Noble eras (not to mention our darkest days of 2007-2015) surely should be receiving more scrutiny?

Yeah that's fair maybe being harsh on him, not his fault he walked into a club that's president and board demanded we lose his first 2 years.

They clearly have talent but doesn’t seem to be system there at all. 2014 Melbourne had a worse 22 but at least Roos had an obvious system already in place, Clarko is in his 2nd year and they look worse than last year lol

Roos 2014 had better senior players somehow still. This North side is pox and let McKay go aswell. They need some serious senior talent

Just crunched some numbers. In our dreadful years of 2007-2015 we went 45 wins 163 losses and 2 draws for a winning percentage of 21.4.

Since 2020, North are 12 wins 81 losses and 1 draw for a winning percentage of 12.9. Never thought I’d see a club as bad as we were but they are way worse albeit over a shorter time span.

The most mind boggling thing is that they let McKay go and used the compensation pick to draft another midfielder when they have 637 of them already on the list.

And we genuinely tried to lose for 2 years aswell while north have been trying to win. It's actually crazy.

Always wondered why Ross Lyon didn’t seem to like Goody much in his media stint, wonder if it was because Goody won a flag with the defence first mindset and Ross didn’t? Saints are playing a horrific brand right now, 7 goals two weeks in a row against meh teams is shocking.
