The Bendigo Football League is the worst run comp in Victoria, absolute shambles.

I've got no issue with LVFL looking after their best interests. You're either all in or all out. Marong are still fielding a side and not p***ng and moaning about the standard, they're just getting on with the job and respecting that the league is putting a competition on. MG tried to have their cake and eat it too... and it backfired.

The actual severity of the punishment is maybe a little over the top, but I have no issue with the logic.

Yep it's a head in the sand moment, the club is losing its best players into bendigo because the thirds comp is poor, its why they are marong want to leave. You basically have northern united 3rds, the amalgamation of 4 clubs to get 1 thirds side, bridgy and Inglewood. Maiden gully and marong are thriving suburbs of Bendigo, surely the committee or commission have to intervene now, it's going to ruin a footy club, they lose their best juniors already their seniors are struggling, but we'll put them 3 games behind, so any recruit will leave, they can't make the 5, 3 games behind.

The whole point of footy is to get as many people involved in playing as you can, this decision does the opposite, the league needs to be taken over by the committee straight away

Wouldn't choosing to not field a side in a competition that aligns with what your seniors and reserves are doing be doing the same?

They are a basket case and it wouldnt surprise me if the joint venture fell apart

There's no ycw ground left now, ycw were always a pretty well run club, with robbo etc, perennial finalists before the merge too, who's got more power? They've got major league coaches, the former Collingwood captain teaches there, they should be a Monty to be successful in the bfl

The LVFNL are taking the P155 surely? MGYCW have done everything they can to get out of this circus now they want to ping them for not fielding a team in their third rate u18's. Next move has to be any other league that will.have them other than the LVFNL.

Even leagues have feelings now, and MG hurt the leagues feelings by being honest.

Loddon Valley created this rod for their own back when they allowed Mitiamo to not field U18's for years.

You can't let clubs exclude themselves and still expect the comp to be taken seriously.

Quite ironic that miti didn't have a team cause they didn't have numbers yet ycw didn't field a team cause they had too many numbers

Could it work that ycw entered a gun under 18's team(s) in Bendigo league and had a feeder team in Loddon valley made up of kids who are not quite there yet size wise and talent wise?

I'd think so, they could have maiden gully play in the bfl and ycw play in the lvfl. That should be their plan, the incoming commissions plan and the bfl and lvfl plan to have the club for two leagues. It's a growing area of bendigo, the bfl should be trying to entice marong in as well. The lvfl is so disproportionate now, all northern clubs have zero Juniors, nothing in bridgy newbridge either I'd imagine, yet marong and maiden gully have between 10-20k pop to pick teams from, how's it an even playing field, gone are the days of marong being a sleepy hamlet to bendigo, it's a growing suburb

The future for both clubs has to be the BFNL and probably sooner rather than later.

When, or if, it happens depends on whether the new council has the cajones that the former commission didn't to actually deal with issues in the region.

Newbridge gave Bridgey a huge scare, Serp get past Pyramid, Mellington gets 10, Maiden Gully gat over Calivil and Marong flog Miti. Apart from the Marong win other games highly competitive lets hope that sets the bar for the rest of the season
