Most clubs will have multiple $1m+ players on their list once the massive TPP kicks in from 2025.

We'll lose Smith and possibly English for next year anyway.
Yeh but it extrapolates. If 1 million becomes more frequent then clubs will start offering 1.2-1.4 a year to stretch clubs.

It just shows you how much the cap has gone up. 30% is massive.
40% from the 2022 cap to 2025 cap.
I don't think much of the football public realises how much this changes the landscape

but wdym I was reliably informed that he had all but signed on the dotted line for Sydney and Essendon and maybe Collingwood because there’s no way a team can afford to pay more than one star player

Only 2 years. It's basically an offer to the club to go sack bevo between now and then and we can talk long term.
Clearly didn’t read this part of the article

The talented forward, out of contract at the end of this season, was always keen to stay at the club where has formed an excellent relationship with coach Luke Beveridge.

Respect your opinion but there's no scenario where they don't write that

Plenty of players take the two years (or equivalent) to back themselves at a bigger contract come FA. Doesn’t mean it’s about Bevo. Bont did it too.

To be fair you will be keeping jamarra but losing smith (english probably stays) and trying to dump contracts like lobb and daniel on other clubs so there is still a case that not all the big contracts can be afforded.

We had cap space beforehand, but Smith seems gone and Busslinger looks set to return to WA. Daniel odds-on to go to SA too.
English's market value seems to be a bit lower than he first thought which is why we're a decent chance of signing him.
