So I'm committing to Feb Fast or Dry Feb or whatever, don't drink during Feb.

For a few reasons, mental, physical, work just to see the effects and help to cut down in the future.

At the same time I want to try and get in to the calories in v calories out mindset.

Now, I don't follow anyones advice in particular but that annoying guy from EBT pops up on my insta feed constantly. I ended up at his website using the macro calculator, and it spits out this:

For me I'm just concerned that 2549cals for weight loss seems high to me... am I wrong?

Thoughts?
Thats just a guide for calories remember. So if you consume only around 2000, and are not hungry, then don't eat and take the extra defecit.

Also remember to be at 115kgs, you would have been averaging above 3000 calorie intake daily.

Being bigger as well, your body will be burning more calories with day to day movements/exercise, hence the higher number.

Don't look at it as "Calories to consume".. Look at it as "Dont you dare go over" lol

OK fair enough, thanks for the responses.

Guess it's fair to say, if I start at 2600 and either don't see a change, go up etc then I know to reduce from there.

Given starting out, is it worth dialing down even further with macros, or just start with the cals (with the focus on being reasonably healthy choices) to begin with?

I'd ignore the "Macro" side of things all together and just focus on the calories. Tracking can at times be tedious enough, trying to line it all up can become a chore to which you end up dropping it all together.

Calories are a unit of energy, consume more energy than you burn, you put on weight, consume less energy than you require and your start to lose weight. Unless there's massive underlying medical issues, it really is as simple as that.

As I said, use 2600 as an absolute max, if your satisfied in a day at 2200, then sweet, think of it as pocket money saved.

Keep reaching out, keep us posted and Good Luck!!!

I've started the calorie deficit approach, and drinking a shedload of water.

Going from drinking not a lot of water, to drinking 2-4L, can this ... 'clear you out'? Sorry to be disgusting lol
If you weren't drinking enough previously, it'll be helpful... unlikely to "clear you out" in the way you're thinking, other than making your pee less yellow and making you pee far more often.

Does anyone have a good free or inexpensive calorie counting app recommendation that works well with Aussie spec foods?
Myfitnesspal free version is tride and true

Mynetdiary is also good, from memory the barcode scanner is free as well

Anyone tried peptides?

Looking into BPC157 for my achilles. Wondering if it's (or peptides in general) are as good as claimed? Hard to get reviews on it without a vested interest then the issue of a reputable source when it's an experimental compound only...

Best to go through a doctor for this one I reckon.

These things can be prescribed by specialists.

Be alot of hoops and referrals to physios/podiatrists and all that which I've already done. But yeah, that would be the smartest/safest route
'Aging doctors' or similar supplements clinics tend to make that process a little smoother. No comment on the potential quality of medical advice, heard good and bad things.

FWIW I started using the 'Lose It' app. I think it's about $60 for the year.

Bloody great in how it works.. I remember trying to use the earlier versions of this around 2010 or so, and it was so new that the ease of the data wasn't that great. And a lot of it was american so it wouldn't pick up Australian products.

Not too many products aren't on it!

I went 33 days without an alcoholic bev.
Cut out fast/junk food.
Calorie counted.
10K+ steps/day

I dropped 10.4kg in that time (ended end of Feb)

Mid way in to March I'm down just over 12kg.

Has been great...

Calorie deficit it is for me!

Have researched bpc157 the last week or so actually. Tbh if it wasnt injections id possibly give it a crack but thats pretty hardcore to jump to. The capsules arent a high enough dose, would need 4 a day from what i read. Gets expensive

Its also no guarantee you're actually getting what you pay for. Its unregulated so they could just send water, how would you know...

What the hell is going on with the price of protein powders? Even bulk nutrients is pricey these days. Anyone got any cheap suppliers?

Coles have had some types on half price lately, I usually just get them. Chemist Warehouse has some options too, of course you need to check how much protein is actually in them, some of the cheap stuff doesn't actually have much.

It's definitely frustrating how protein powder prices are on the rise, even at places like Bulk Nutrients. Have you tried looking for cheaper options at places like Nature Meds Supplements? Sometimes, exploring different retailers can lead to better deals and discounts. Happy hunting for those budget-friendly buys!
