BALLARAT Football League club Daylesford will apply
this Friday to join the Central Highlands Football
League.
The proud BFL Demons have the blessing of the Ballarat
league and the Victorian Country Football League.

`We have got the blessing of the BFL and VCFL at this
stage and understand in our situation something is
best done straight away so everything could be in
place for 2006... otherwise I don't know what we will
do," secretary

of the club Robbie Slater told The Courier.

Daylesford is finding it too difficult to compete at
the Ballarat league level and wants to organise their
juniors under one competition.

Previously, its under 17s had been affiliated with
North Ballarat juniors while its under 15s, under 10s
and under 12s have been with the
Maryborough-Castlemaine District Football League.

All its juniors were with the MCDFL this season.

Daylesford club secretary Robbie Slater said the club
would officially apply to the CHFL this Friday with
the aim of playing in 2006 in the 13-member league.

If Daylesford joins the CHFL the bye would be
eliminated.

CHFL president Reg Hanitz said he he was not at
liberty "to divulge much at this stage".

"I only found at 10 to one today and until they
officially apply I don't really know any more.

"We will discuss the application at our next league
meeting on Wednesday week, October 26," he added.

BFL chief executive officer Rod Ward said delegates
from his board met with Daylesford officials last
Friday night.

"The indication from the delegation of the BFL board
is to recommend to the full board to looked favourably
at Daylesford's application depending on the CHFL
accepting them," Ward said.

"But we will keep the door open for Daylesford to come
back," he added.

Slater said the club's juniors were vital to the
future of the club.

"Because our junior clubs are affiliated with another
league it makes it very hard to foster local players.
We seem to get a bit lost between
Maryborough-Castlemaine leagues and the BFL.

"But if we are competing in the CHFL where all grades
play on the one day this would help secure the future
of the football club," Slater said.

"The official application on Friday goes to the
secretary of the Central Highlands league but we are
not too sure what the procedure is now."

Daylesford last won a senior premiership in 1961.

"We have played in finals for the past five of the
last six years but all those players are getting on a
bit and not having a junior structure pushing through
means now that numbers are starting to dwindle and to
compete in the

BFL you need to have plenty of juniors and ability to
recruit big name players and unfortunately that is not
the situation now."

I heard on win News Players say if Dayleford move to Central Highlands then they will just walk out on the Club and leave what with daylesford with no players
