Given the next round was a bye this is technically quarter time in season 36 and former Frankie winner TheInjuryFactory is off to a flyer with nine votes in three rounds. The returning zackah is a vote back in second on eight, tied with yours truly, while rookie sensation Ocha905 Reginald Perrin & The Filth Wizard are all tied in fourth place.

The Wooshette Medal
We’ve had many great full forwards in our 19 season history. From Stronzo ’s 82 goals in our second season to Reginald Perrin winning the pre-Fred named Alf Andrews Medal with a team record 84 goals a couple of seasons later. From our other Fred winners in BigJoeD_ & harry000 to club stalwarts in Raveneyes & Dinsdale. From Itsmyshow topping the club’s goal kicking tally two seasons in a row to the Wazzas all time leading goal kicker in BEEG repeating IMS’s effort not once but twice. And now a third person has gone back to back in topping the goal kicking tally.
When you’ve kicked the second most goals in SFA history you know a thing or two about kicking the ball to the lovely lady sitting behind the goals. And The Filth Wizard sure treated us to an exhibition in goal kicking in season 36. Undoubtedly the highlight was in round five when… well you’ll read all about that in the write up for round five which immediately follows this, but Filthy kicked five or more goal on eight occasions this season and kicked at least a goal every game. He narrowly missed out on his second Fred Medal, but his 65 goals was enough to see him named in the forward line in this season’s All-SFA team, his 15th selection!
So it comes as no surprise that The Filth Wizard has taken out his second Wooshette Medal for leading goal kicker. Get around him!!!

Round five saw us emerge from the bye recharged, refreshed and rejuvenated. We were back at home for the first time since the opening round, hosting the Sin Citizens who haven't had the grandest of starts to season 36 on field but have enough FIGJAMmery to stock any pantry. The week went by swimmingly, with dad jokes and historical bragging the banter du jour from the visitors. And in something of a coincidence both clubs were honouring a 300th game milestone each - TubbsFarquhar for us and Rodney Dangerfield for them. So it was inevitable that one would be raised and the other toppled.
And it was 'The Wall' that toppled. It started in ominous fashion as relocated spearhead okeydoke kicked the first goal from an unaccustomed pocket after two minutes, with the visitors kicking three of the first four goals before The Filth Wizard booted his first. This was matched by the current admin, but then we went to work by kicking 10 of the next 11 goals. The 'Rats then kicked three in 2 minutes to threaten a comeback, but 7 of the next 8 goals saw us head into half time 62 points to the good. But what a half - 19.4, 12 of those in the second quarter alone! And Filthy... Filthy already had eight goals! The second half was a bit quieter, but 9 goals to 8 meant that by the final siren we had extended our half time lead by another six points. Of our 9 second half goals, Filthy contributed four which gave him a dozen. A FREAKING DOZEN GOALS!
The win saw us rise one spot on the ladder to second, one of six clubs with three wins from the first five rounds but our percentage is hefty as heck!
I'm going to send an email to Peter Drury and ask him to retrospectively commentate The Filth Wizard 's game. That's how good it was. In a performance for the ages, Filthy equalled the all-time record for most goals kicked in a qooty match with twelve (12) goals. He had so many snags that he could set up his own stall at Bunnings.
The service that he received from the midfield was magnificent. Centerman zackah (32 disposals/3 marks/1 goal) continued his rich vein of form, FootyGuy13 (29 disposals/9 marks) had his best game of the season to date (helped that he was on the ground for the whole game), TheInjuryFactory (21 disposals/9 tackles/1 goal) Ocha905 (26 disposals/7 marks), pantskyle (11 disposals/20 hitoiuts/2 goals) Agent93 (23 disposals/4 marks/2 goals) & oldmate (20 dipsosals/3 tackles/2 goals) all did the business, 300-gamer TubbsFarquhar finished with 3 golas from 3 kicks while Piggy Smalls & Reginald Perrin kicked a brace of goals each while the much vaunted Swamprat forward line was dismantled by toxic & Purple7x08_24.

Gold City Royals 14.6 (90) were defeated by Coney Island Warriors 15.8 (98)
Round six had us on the road again, where we took a trip to the Golden Toilet Throne to visit a Gold City outfit that we normally match up well with, despite the sim not being kind to them thus far in season 36. We played them three times last season and had margins of 7 points, 4 points and another 4 points (as well as a couple of after the siren results in previous seasons) so close finishes are very much the zeitgeist in this fixture.
The week a lot more low-key than expected form both camps, with one notable exception. Tully High School's eight-time reigning Brainiest Teacher was on one last week, and both teams let him play his 4D chess throughout the week with minimal assistance. And by that I mean a few of us nudged him back on whatever course he was taking at various points of the journey, but he got there in the end.
And so did we all to game day. From a qooty perspective it was a team that had only won one match versus a team that had only lost one match, and it really showed in the simulated first quarter result. Both teams had five shots on goal, with them (only one win) kicking 4.1 and us (only one loss) kicking 1.4. Simhousery seemed afoot. To our credit though our heads didn't drop, and we got to work in the middle two quarters. A 6 goal to 2 second quarter followed by a 5 goal to 3 third quarter saw us lead by a game high 34 points late in the third. The sim made it close though in the last, with the hosts kicking 7 of the last 10 goals but it wasn't enough to cause a boilover. It did however the 5th single digit result in a row between us, and more importantly it gave us our 4th win in a row. I won't tempt fate and use the 's' word, but the dacks are definitely at half mast.
What does this mean for the ladder? I think that's what you asked, kinda sounded like mumbling...
After a few weeks of some standout "resume-worthy" performances, it was a pretty even spread this week. The defence of Purple7x08_24 Dinsdale spudmaster Volbeat toxic & SBYM (with help from Reginald Perrin & pantskyle) kept the opposition to under 100 points for the second time this season. The wingers in FootyGuy13 (25 disposals/5 marks) & Ocha905 (19 disposals/6 marks) gave us some outside spread, Mesc (16 disposals/9 hitouts/1 goal) & Mofra (11 disposals/7 tackles/7 frees for) were thrown on the ball and did well. The forward line of Agent93 (17 disposals/4 marks/3 goals) TubbsFarquhar (4 goals) & The Filth Wizard (3 goals) did the bulk of the damage on the scoreboard. And what's got two thumbs and loved cuddling Royals in round 6? Oldmate here!

Coney Island Warriors 17.13 (115) defeated Fighting Furies 6.6 (42)
We were enjoying both the comforts of home and the company of the Furies in round seven. The Furies were pretty much on life support a couple of seasons ago, when a combination of defection and destruction saw the list cut to the proverbial bone. But to the credit of those who remained to rebuild, a fuscia-coloured flower is emerging from the rubble and the week was perhaps the most convivial one between our two clubs for many a season. We even showed concern for a former teammate, wishing that he no longer be separated from his appendage.
The fuscia-coloured bloom was well and truly trampled on game day however, as the sim decided to put on persimmon jackboots and crush that flower good. The visitors kicked two of the first three goals to hold a slender lead halfway through the first quarter, only for us to kick 16 of the remaining 20 goals to see off the final siren 73 points to the good. In better news for the Furies, they defeated The Filth Wizard by two points - 6.6 (42) to 6.4 (40).
We remained tied on points with the Bears after the bin chickens lost last week, however we have a game in hand over the Vegans plus our already Rubenesque percentage gained an extra 11% thanks to the Furies so our place atop the ladder has improved.
After a couple of leaner than usual weeks, reigning Frankston Rover Medallist pantskyle rucked his way back to form with a 31 disposal/10 hitout/3 tackle/2 goal performance. Joining pants in the follower brigade was two Mobbs Medallists in TheInjuryFactory (21 disposals/9 tackles/5 frees for/1 goal) and Freofalcon (21 disposals/7 tackles/5 frees for/2 marks), while Ocha905 (21 disposals/6 marks), FootyGuy13 (23 disposals/4 marks) & zackah (19 disposals/5 marks/1 goal) held the centre line.
The backline of Purple7x08_24 spudmaster Dinsdale SBYM & a visiting Mofra (who took 11 marks off the bench!!) were superb in keeping the visitors to six goals. And up front The Filth Wizard led the way with another six goals to lead the Fredal count with a game in hand from second place, while Agent93 Piggy Smalls and the forward-reaching toxic joined pants as being the other multiple goal kickers.

Round eight had us travelling again, however we were packing light as #thestreak was in full effect. We were off to the Colosseum to face our preliminary final nemesis from last year in the West Coast franchise. We were top of the ladder and full of vim & vigour, while the hosts were mid-table and in a bit of a transition period as they had lost a couple of co-captains and picked up an androgynous boy doll who whined when anybody pulled the cord in his back which went silent after while. The week was commemorated by the now traditional Running Of The Wasps, thankfully Dinsdale did not die.
Game day inevitably arrived, and like many toxic relationships we reverted to some unhealthy behaviours such as conceding a big lead early, remaining distant for much of the time and quixotically trying to make up with them but running out of time before we could mend the damage done. In a qootballing sense, the eficit went from bad (25 points at quarter time) to worse (33 points at the half) to absolutely sh*thouse (67 points early in the last) before settling back to 23 points at the final siren.
Thankfully the Bears also lost so we've retained top spot on the ladder, still with a game in hand over them and the Gumbies who join us on 20 points.
The sim enjoys a bit of ironing as we all know, and saw fit to give a bit of loving to the defenders with Dinsdale (28 disposals/7 marks/4 tackles) Volbeat (24 disposals/9 marks) and spudmaster (16 disposals/8 marks) all enjoying season best outings. The midfield was taken care of by zackah (29 disposals/7 marks/1 goal/4 frees against), TheInjuryFactory (23 disposals/6 tackles/7 frees for) and Ocha905 (25 disposals/6 marks before going down back), all of which were well served by ruck-for-a-day Mesc (15 disposals/14 hitouts/4 tackles/2 goals). And current Fredal leader The Filth Wizard picked up another Michelle from as many kicks, with Piggy Smalls Reginald Perrin and SBYM joining Mesc as the other multiple goal kickers.

In round 16 this season we were fortunate enough to have the fourteenth person earn Life Membership of the Coney Island Warriors, which is pretty much the single greatest accolade that anybody in Sweet can earn. This season is was somebody who has won fame and accolades, including a SFACA Medal (the old TFLUA for those playing at home) and an All-SFA guernsey along with twice being a runner up in the Mobbs Medal. Another heart and soul Wazza, he gets given a role each week and he bloody well does it.
So without any further ado I officially welcome toxic to Life Membership of Coney Island. You're here forever!

Round nine saw us back on the road, this time travelling to Baghdad. There was a time when people shuddered at the thought of a week with the Bombers, but those times are now but a distant memory. Now they are weeks to savour, and this one had the lot! Banter, tunes, beers, jubilant Magpies, humped interlopers, frivolity and the ritual sacrifice of a Baghdadi player (RIP in pieces Sunny). It also gave birth to a new tradition, with the spawning of Kamahl Round arguably the highlight of the week. Outstanding areas!
And then through the post-Granny hangover came game day. After an opening goal for Fredal leader The Filth Wizard we had a bit of a nap to trail by 16 points at the first change. After some choice words from coach The Donald (he has the best words) we clicked into gear, with a seven goal to one second quarter seeing us open a 24 point lead by half time.
We forgot much of what we learned in the second quarter though, as the hosts came back strong by retaking the lead halfway through the third quarter. We then saw the see-saw see again, kicking four of the final five goals of the quarter to retake a slender single kick sized lead at the final turn. The Bombers then sawed again, and we see'd again, and so on until the large lass let loose a lungful as we emerged from Abdu Prison 18 points to the good.
The victory, our sixth of the season from eight starts, kept us atop the ladder equal on points with the extra-game-playing Plasticinies.
There were meritorious performances all over the field. Centreman zackah picked up the inaugural Kamahl Medal after amassing a 32 disposal/4 mark/1 goal performance. Rookie winger Ocha905 (26 disposals/9 marks/2 tackles/1 goal) also made hay before taking a break on the bench, while pantskyle (26 disposals/17 hitouts) TheInjuryFactory (16 disposals/7 tackles/1 goal) and ya man (21 disposals/8 tackles/10 frees for/1 goal) also did the needful.
Filthy ended up with another six of the best to maintain his Fredal lead with dynamite support from Piggy Smalls (4 goals) & Agent93 (3 goals to go with 21 disposals & 8 marks).
And don't forget the defenders! spudmaster (17 disposals - 16 of which were kicks!/7 marks), Volbeat (21 disposals/4 marks) and Dinsdale (16 disposals/8 marks before drifting forward) in particular got stuck in, while CursingFijian eased his way into his first game of the season with a handful of touches from a quarter of the game.

Coney Island Warriors 11.6 (72) were defeated by Mount Buller Demons 13.8 (86)
We had what seems like a rare home game, where we were hosting the Mount Buller Demons. Bofa have been having an up & down qooty season following a mostly down season but regardless of their on-field variability they're solid as heck off it, and have even gotten more solid this season thanks to the luring of some active Super Friends to compliment the ever-present woos, tarks, yakks, mangs, woshes & torsos. The engagement was such that we had our most spamific match thread of the season thus far. Is spamific a word? F*ck it, it is now.
We therefore rolled into game day with a spring in our collective despite the visitors bringing their crappy weather with them, as a six-goal-to-four opening quarter was backed up with a two-goal-to-one second quarter to see us 15 points up at the big break. From there however we fell in a bit of a heap, as we conceded 8 of the 11 second half goals to end up with a 13 point deficit at the final siren.
The loss saw us relinquish top spot on the ladder to this week's opponents, making our round 11 MoTR in all but name your classic eight pointer matches. Imagine a match with eight points though, you could light so many candles with that bad boy!!!
A game in rainy conditions is going to bring the stats down a bit, but FootyGuy13 made light work of the heavy conditions to lead all comers with a 24 disposal/5 mark/3 tackle/2 goal game. His wing partner Ocha905 also did well with 18 disposals & 2 goals, while zackah (19 disposals/5 marks/2 tackles) pantskyle (20 disposals/9 hitouts) & TheInjuryFactory (18 disposals/5 frees for/1 goal) had plenty of it. Both The Filth Wizard & Reginald Perrin kicked a brace of goals each, and I cuddled a bunch of folk.

Gumbies FFC 7.5 (47) were defeated by Coney Island Warriors 23.11 (149)
So in round 11 we went to the House of Gumby. They were up and about in their own plasticine way given they had just replaced us on top of the ladder. Their skipper was leading the charge, their runner was off running, their veteran was shouting and Bazball was Bazballing. As for us, well Sir we were shitposting for Africa with 20 of us providing over 70% of the content. All killer, no filler.
Speaking of killers, game day arrived and murder was on the menu. A 12 point lead became a 38 point lead, which became a 55 point flogging which finished as a 102 massacre. It was apparently the worst defeat in Gumbies history, and the fourth largest victory in Warrior history.. You hate to do them dirty like that, but at the same time I will step over my own mother to reclaim top spot on the ladder, which is where we once again saw ourselves. And as it turned out we did the double over the eventual grand finalists, winning one by 10 goals and the other by 100 points. Wherever you look, there sits simhousery.
He may have lost the hitout count, but pantskyle wiped the ground with his opponent with a monster 38 disposal/10 hitout/4 tackle/1 goal effort that saw him comfortably as best on for the game. The centreline of Ocha905 (26 disposals/ 3 marks/3 tackles/2 goals) FootyGuy13 (22 disposals/3 tackles/1 goal) and zackah (24 disposals/12 marks) all had plenty of it, Agent93 (22 disposals/7 tackles/2 goals) & Piggy Smalls (19 disposals/9 marks/1 goal) both had another day out, The Filth Wizard kicked another six goals to retain his Fredal lead while toxic (3) & Freofalcon (2) also kicked multiple goals. The backline of Purple7x08_24 SBYM Dinsdale spudmaster CursingFijian Volbeat & Mesc were immense, TheInjuryFactory got his cuddle on, TubbsFarquhar improved on last week and I just ran around lots.

Coney Island Warriors 13.8 (86) were defeated by Dragons FFC 15.9 (99)
It was round 12. We were at home, as the ferry from Dragon Island came to Docklands. It didn't take long for the squares to be marked with the stock standard tropes, but there was more to the week than usual. The visitors have found a fertile breeding ground over on Snuffaluphagus' home board, and this season have brought over one of the most verbose people in all of Christendom with them. He seemed to take a shine to Reginald Perrin so he at least has a bit of taste. Besides, the week brought Mofra & Moo out from the Bay and the paddock respectively, and that can only be a good thing!
After the best part of 80 pages of shitposting we got to game day. Even though we were top of the ladder and had just enjoyed a 102-point victory the week before, our head-to-head record against the Dragons in recent seasons was exactly that - all heads and no tails. A win and a draw out of the last ten matches to be precise, so we must have been due right?
Oh. Oh no.
They got away to a 27 point lead in the first quarter before we kicked seven of the next eight goals. They then kicked the next six before two in a couple of minutes to reduce their lead to a couple of goals. Some toing and froing followed but the margin remained, as the coin fell on heads yet again. Simhousery remains.
The good news is that we were still on top of the ladder thanks to a bye and a draw from our nearest ladderly neighbours. The bad news is our game in hand had disappeared like night before dawn. One more win though and finals qooty would be secuured for a second successive season.
For the second week in a row it was the anthropomorphic orangutan show, as pantskyle had back to back best ons with another 28 disposals, 13 hitouts, 3 tackles and three goals. CursingFijian (20 disposals/5 marks/5 tackles) & Dinsdale (19 disposals/5 marks) did the needful down back, TheInjuryFactory (17 disposals/6 tackles/5 frees for/ 2 goals) Ocha905 (19 disposals/ 2 marks) & zackah (20 disposals/4 marks) all got their hands dirty while The Filth Wizard Agent93 & Reginald Perrin were other to kick two goals each. And I did my best impersonation of Hugo the Abominable Snowman (iykyk).

Fourteen votes in the permieship quarter sees oldmate hit the lead, four ahead of The Filth Wizard on 23 with TheInjuryFactory another three back in third palce. Two BOGs in a row has seen pantskyle jump to fourth place on 19 votes, with Ocha905 (17 votes) rounding out the tight af top 5, where even zackah (16) & FootyGuy13 (15) are near enough if they make a late run.
