And chased and tackled. All fine. A two week rest and he's good to go.

So, Parsons out for Cockatoo. Who's out for Selwood? Kolodashnij?

Kolo out?? Hope not... He's been a ripper the last 3 weeks. Can now play 3 positions... wing, half back, 3rd tall... those multi positional players are like GOLD. I love this kid. So glad we've signed him up for another 2 years.

Is currently goalless... would be a good time to slot one or two...

GEELONG hasn’t ruled out James Parsons being available for the qualifying final clash against Richmond after scans confirmed a mid-foot sprain.
“It cleared him of any bone damage, which we’re really pleased about,” Cats football boss Steve Hocking said.

“We’ll just shut him down this week and have non-weight bearing training available to him, and then we’ll look to get him going the following week.

“He’s still in play for our first final."

I heard "mid foot sprain" and knowing what bones are in that particular region, filled the Reg Grundies.

Thankfully its not the bone that shan't be mentioned.

is Parsons likely to play in the QF ?

Clubs says he just has a mid foot sprain
The bye will be handy for that trio.
MF sprains can vary in severity but no bone damage sounds good.
Danger had that injury, and he missed one or ? Can't recall
If all 3 are available, wonder who they'll select.

Can't see Joel getting up. Cocky is behind him. Only question mark is around Parsons for the QF. Lang or Cunico seem the best like for like for Parsons if he can't get up.

no bone involvement at all
good start
That was the point I made earlier when the Egan Vs Sel discussion started.

The lack of bone in Sel's issue, as opposed to Egan, was immediately a better start to it.

'JOEL Selwood has been given the all-clear to train ahead of next week’s qualifying final, according to sports medico Peter Larkins.

Selwood will have to defy medical history to get back in six weeks after surgery on a high-ankle sprain known as syndesmosis.

But Larkins told 5AA Radio Selwood was given the tick-off by his surgeon David Young to begin training.

The Cats are expected to do some match simulation training on Saturday as they try to improve their record after byes.

They take on Richmond on Friday week in front of a crowd that could be as large as 90,000.

“He is a very good chance to play. I will give you a scoop. He has just had a meeting with his surgeon who gave him the all-clear to train,’’ respected medico Larkins said.

“That is really ahead of time. By Friday week’s game it will be just short of five weeks. He has done really well and he is going to be training in the lead-up to the first final.

“Stay tuned to see that he is picked to play. That would be a really quick return for him.”

Larkins believes James Parsons is unlikely to play in that clash because of a medial ligament sprain in his ankle.

That could see him miss three or more weeks, a blow given his impressive form.

“They will probably lose James Parsons with a medial ankle sprain but the Cats will be looking to see if Joel can play well next week.”

Selwood will play, nothing surer.
YOU try telling Joel he can't play!
So long as he can't do any further damage (which if he's training now he won't) then there's no reason to be cautious, this isn't the time.
We beat our bitches and we get a week off anyway to ensure he's cherry ripe for the Prelim which would also remove the usual "average the second week back" problem most players have.
Win/win.

You would rush Selwood back into the Best 22 as soon as he is fit. I understand this. He'd probably be a straight swap for Parsons if he can't get up, or Parfitt or Buzza.

However, would Cocky be an automatic start-up into our Best 22 come finals without match practice? He has only played 1 game in the last 10 weeks, and come finals time, it will be 1 game in 12 weeks (by QF) or 14 weeks (by PF).

Came straight back in against Carlton after 5 weeks off and kicked 3 ... the answer, yes.

Didn't this flog right him off when he got the injury by saying he had zero chance of playing? Just changing the story as he goes.
