So can we de-Melbourne him? If we do, do we get the player that was drafted at pick 11 and started well as stated earlier? I think we will, and if so, that is a huge bonus.

IIRC the only club who rated Gysberts worth a first round pick was Melbourne. Everybody else rated him a mid-second rounder so that is the quality of player we will more likely get: another at Bastinac's level which is still a win.

But I'd rate Basti as first rounder in retrospect. So does that then return Gizz to the 1st round too? I'm confused.

I think he will be a very very good addition if as with most players he can have some continuity in pre-seasons and games. Interesting to read the article this morning - the manager made it sound as though he sought out other clubs, Melbourne made it look like they traded him but it may have been at his request. Its great that he nominated North as well. We may not get everyone but by God its impressive that young talented players are nominating us.
