MELBOURNE midfielder Jordan Gyberts will look to reignite his career at North Melbourne after being traded to the Roos on Friday morning.
Gyberts, 21, will join the Kangaroos in exchange for Cameron Pedersen, as well as a draft pick from North.

The paperwork will be finalised at around 10am today.

Gyberts suffered ankle and jaw injuries early in 2012 before spending most of the second half of the season in the VFL. He could only crack one senior appearance, in round 19 against Gold Coast.

The 190cm, 84kg midfielder was the No.11 pick from the 2009 NAB AFL Draft. He won two NAB AFL Rising Star nominations before his career stagnated this season.

Gysberts played 19 games for the Demons.

His manager, Tim Hazell, said Gyberts was ecstatic to join North Melbourne.

"He couldn't be happier - he really likes Brad Scott and he can't wait to work with the likes of Brent Harvey and Andrew Swallow and all the other North mids," he told AFL.com.au.

"There was a bit of interest from other clubs but as soon as he met with North Melbourne he was determined to get there."

I like this. Explains why the Pedersen deal was taking so long to get done. Well, other that the fact we didn't think Melbourne had the draft pick for him.

Very interested in what pick we sent back though. Any word on that yet?

Good pick up i reckon - hes scope to improve is huge and could be anything - ill back our development in to get the best out of him.

We are very very well placed in the midfield - particulary after our pick 15.

It's likely 58.

Wonder what draft pick they are talking about? Could it be the Azza pick from Richmond?

Happy to give Gysberts a go at North and see how he develops.

They were saying a late on 70 odd.

Good get for you guys, reckon he should complement your midfield nicely. Is severely lacking in fitness and strength but that is partly due to injuries over the last 14 months prohibiting him from getting some proper work into his body. Get his fitness base up over the pre-season and I reckon he'll be a good player.

We are doing a lot right at the minute - we are building something powerful.

Another Eastern Ranges boy...

Don't really understand what North have been trying to do during this trade period. Letting go of decent players at bargain prices and picking up nobodies.... any chance of signing a good name? A proper proven AFL players? Laidley all over again

Laidley picked up players in their mid to late 20's who were average at AFL level. We have picked up a 21 year old pick 11 who has been at the worst club for developing players in the last decade. Could be a bloody good deal but at this stage it's hard to say. We let go a guy who played 2 games in 2012. 2.

Going to be big pressure on this kid from day one. All eyes on him and his work ethic as he was given every chance at Melbourne to become a starting mid and could not do it. Needs to work his butt off to get a game in our far stronger midfield. But if he can fulfil his potential, we'll have pulled off quite the coup. At this stage, it is a slight risk.
