Who is your recruit of the year?
For me for his form on the field but all his work off the field with experienced and junior players Brett Kimmorley has been a great job for the Bulldogs.
infact all Bulldogs signings Ennis, Stagg, Hannatt, Morris, Goodwin and later on Eastwood
Sharks...
Thoughts?
5 games on Central Coast..only good thing I can see is the club will get money, but I cant see anyone from Shire going up..and I cant see the locals wanting to attend their games..
This could blow up in the face of Sharks officals...at least its something, but I think they...
Firstly with saturday afternoon footy starting at 3.15pm, which then leads into the 5.30 and 7.30 game, thats a proper super saturday...

and then yesterday with a packed house at Campbelltown for the game of the year!!!
It shows afternoon footy in Sydney...
They've done the right thing with 8 teams in 8 cities. The rivalry in sport in the states is city vs city.
Other bits have to be worked out like sponsorship and how the competition will be funded and also a salary cap, quota of international players etc, but this is a huge step for the game.
2 refs are in, video ref less influence, what else does the game need?
Here are some interesting ideas which are yes not all mine but with a little tweeking.
Restart tackle count when a line break is made from attacking team. Reward the team which makes a line break.
Tries from kicks inside...
We've all said in other threads where the NRL should expand too.
A thread specific for ideas to where the NRL should expand too. This year we have had Perth, Adelaide, Central Coast, West Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Central Queensland, PNG, Fiji, North Sydney and Wellington as all possible teams...
Is this bound to happen? For one day cricket only.
Combined of Australian and NZ domestic teams in a trans-tasman rivalry.
2 groups of 6 ala the english system with promotion and relegation.
What better way to get more money for the game than to have a open slather approach to it.
At the moment the rights were sold to channel 9 ( who got the marquee games of friday night, sunday afternoon, State of Origin, Finals and Australian tests matches at home or in NZ.
Fox sports got super...
I gotta say this grand final was one of the best Ive seen in both ESL and NRL.
Played in terrible conditions, raining 2 hours before game and all the way through the game, skills were actually very good.
St Helens were overwhelming favourites due to all players fit and beating Leeds by 28...
Drinking is a issue not only in footy of course bu society..
But I am sick and tired of these stupid players getting in mishap at city spots in 1 or 2 in the morning...

Now...yes Im a league fan, but do like AFL
But surely even the most hardcore AFL supporters realize this puts people off.
On Rah-Rah signing Rugby League players?
I think it shows how down the crapper union now is....they need league players because they cant grow their own and their game is so boring that they think league players will make it better.
No doubt they have a massive advantage....MONEY.
If RL and...
Hey all,
Im a newbie in that I havent spent much time in the Swans thread..
But anyway, interested to hear how everyone has become a Swans supporter.
For me started in 1996, living on GC didnt know much about AFL, grew up on league..
Having been from Sydney though, my old man was passionate...
In Sydney? The crowds yes have been awful, but this usually happens every year during origin time....no doubt its a disgrace to the game to have 9000 in a 80 000 stadium...
Tv ratings are high so people are still watching....the history shows that crowds are double what they were in the glamour...
Saw game at in Canberra yesterday and was thinking it was in Sydney, whole crowd was basically all in Red....Swans have support everywhere or was it a huge contingent of supporters from Sydney?
